I'm cautiously optimistic. I love this series and I would love to see a revival of these kind of puzzler games. In today's world I fear that much of the charm could be lost as all the answers will be easily available online. I remember sitting in the back of my highscool science class pretending to take notes but really working out a solution to the 8 Queens puzzle. Mae the puzzles too easy and the real fans will feel cheated, make them to easy and everyone else will cheat and then pan the game as boring.
from Facebook:

"As you know by now, team Trilobyte is busy working on the final episode in our 7th Guest franchise... The 7th Guest: 3. We're planning a major Kickstarter campaign to begin in a few weeks. So we're working on "rewards" for our donors. Of course there'll be game codes, T-shirts, and posters, but we'd like to know what kinds of rewards YOU'D like to see in our campaign? Go ahead, be creative. Leave your ideas right here."

The kickstarter to the sequel is live.

It may be live on kick starter but the backing is pretty dead

Honestly, it's probably for the best. These games were revolutionary when they came out, but another one in this day and age would just feel dated. That and Rob's continued failure in the comments to understand that many people are unfamiliar with cryptic clues like those in the 11th Hour doesn't really give me a lot of faith in how in touch with gaming sensibilities. If it winds up getting funded, neat, but I would be steering clear of it until a few reviews came out.

If I could get a look at a gameplay trailer that shows that Landeros' design philosophy isn't horribly outdated or as ill-informed as it was with the 11th Hour, then I might start considering contributing. As it stands, Landeros has made a few comments on that page that lead me to believe that he is incredibly out of touch with what gamers are interested in. When he expressed shock that so many people don't know what "cryptic clues" are, I had to resist the urge to give a nominal donation purely for the purpose of pointing out how out of touch he was as nastily as possible.

Furthermore, the comments Rob have made about adult content in games is all very good and well, until you remember that his idea of good use of adult content in gaming was the exploitative garbage that polluted the 11th Hour and Tender Loving Care. Every time the man has tried to take on adult subject matter, he has done it with all the finesse of a Z-grade Syfy channel movie, and his comments indicate that he wants to try his hands at doing so again. Barring some kind of evidence that he has a strict editor on standby, I can't say I'm eager to see what he has in mind for this game.

you are right about the comments that rob have made, it has really been turning people off. We have all made comments to him about what he could do to turn this around but he doesn't want to listen. He is just sitting there wait for a high roller backer.
They have edited down their kickstarter campaign video to 1:38 minutes.

Wow. A barely comprehensible recut of the stuff they had already recorded that contains almost nothing about Landeros talking about the game. I feel even less inclined to give money than before, and I was already leaning that way after he called out a critic for only giving a minimal donation.

edit: This is not the video posted on the main page. Checking that one now.

the project is now dead, not sure if even when they resubmit it if it will make anymore difference. I think ghost games are a thing in the past.

The 7th Guest 3 is still alive and has been approved on Steam Greenlight.

Yes, it seems that way; from the looks of things, however, that's not going to mean much given that they still have only managed to acquire $19.2K out of the projected $65K. They started this new campaign back in December, and it still hasn't made anywhere near the amount of scratch that they got in the Kickstarter (roughly $100K our of $400K); one would think that that amount would be a shoe-in from the get go, but relocating to a new site and initial failure might have had something to do with it.

Then again, in between that godawful video on the Steam Greenlight page, I'm amazed that this ever got Greenlit, to say nothing about how afterr Rob calling out a critical poster in the Kickstarter for only contributing $1 they are getting any support at all from people who contributed to the original Kickstarter.

EDIT: seems that the crowdfunder is *only* for a mini-game that was going to be a part of the original $400K project, while the original amount is still needed for full completion. Not that they advertise that little factoid very prominently, except for the goals page. This is utterly disgusting.
