Jross007: I have recently bought and installed ToEE on my new HP 5 laptop and after following all of the suggested fixes cannt get the game to even boot up. I have the HP 15 with 6 gig of ram and an i5 processor. and unfortunately running Windows 10. anyone out there with a possible (or definite ) fix? I am also having trouble with Pirates.
Hi, and it's 2016, woot! OK, so I tried vehemently to get the game to work. I followed every single piece of advice here and nothing worked.

At first, I didn't think it was the videos since the logos were playing. So what I decided to do was rename the ToEE\data\movies to ToEE\data\movies2... The problem never came back. So then I realized that the problem must be the movies.

I renamed the folder back to "movies", and I thought I'd google for the codec, which is bink. This is released by RADtools, so I decided to install the latest codec to see if it works. Somehow it worked and I decided to run the game. To my surprise it worked. So to test it again, I quit, and ran the game again. It failed. It crashed again.

Then I tried something multiple times. Skipping logo movies vs. not skipping. Why did I try that? Because I was so excited to report victory about RADtools codec download that I forgot to skip the logos to write this very message. So what I found is... every time I skip the logo movies, the game crashes. Every time I don't, the game does not crash.

Give letting the movies play a try and see if that works for you. It worked for me. Why this works for me, I do not know, I can only hope it works for you. (you can skip the actual intro movie, you don't have to watch it all, as soon as it starts playing, you can skip and the game will load properly)

Lesson: LET THE MOVIES PLAY!

Six Years later, I tried almost everything trying to get the game to run on my windows 8 laptop. This is the only thing that got me past the intro screen.

I installed it and started playing it. Saved and quit. Came back the next day and tried to play, start and changes the desktop screen rez and then freezes. I can unistall it and reinstall it and it does same thing, play once and then freeze next time. I have tried running as admin, compat as XP SP3 and in safe mode. I saw where peeps say use Temple+ but my AV flags it as virus, and yes my AV is up to date. I have tried it on my other machines and same problem. Any ideas? If I remember right I had problems with it when it first came out in 2003 but was many machines and OS ago. Now I am using an ASUS gaming laptop with Windows 10.

The Temple+ is a virus. WS.Reputation.1

Hi, are you using Norton AV? From your report it looks like it's being flagged just for "reputation". I'll try submitting it to them for a false positive report.

Other than that it looks like someone already submitted it for analysis at Virus Total:

File's not there anymore. Anyone else have it?

EDIT: Nevermind, don't think I'll need it. I just installed the Temple+ mod and now it works and at my native resolution. No crashed on load. Sorry for the bump also...
