How do you get Norton to leave it alone? I tried 6 times already and each time it gets deleted:(
Confirmed for Trend Micro also but easy work around I put all my GOG games folder under exception list and it leaves it alone.

As Zorky mentioned, try excluding the folder rather than the file

Disable it before installing? Or would it delete it after re-enabling? I'm guessing you won't go for it, but I would recommend switching to another program anyway...

I disabled it before installing and upon re-enabling it would delete the exe. Yes I am considering switching to another program anyway. Any programs that are good?

Microsoft Security Essentials and are great, effective, lightweight, non-intrusive programs. I used to use Avast and it served me well for years but I switched to MSE about a year ago because I prefer the Win7 integration and the design. There are others but I'm not that familiar with them. I know [url=http://free.avg.com/ca-en/homepage]AVG is good but requires significant tweaking for optimal use.

Thanks will go back to Avast after this

Just uploaded the toee.exe to www.virustotal.com (another multi engine online scanner using 42 different AV and malware scanners). 31 of the 42 scanners reported it as being a trojan or malware! I've seen GoG's official statement saying the file is fine, but, those odds worry me a bit. You can review the scan results in the link below.

I have McAfee and it deletes the file the moment the game is installed.
I tried disabling Real-Time Scanning, and I could launch the game, however for some reason the game crashed about 30 seconds into the intro movie. When I tried to launch it again, the file was gone (My guess is McAfee deleted the file again, although I don't know how since Real-Time Scanning was off, and this caused the crash).

I haven't found any way to add an exception to McAfee, at least not with my edition of the program. So we need a fix, and fast.

I have exactly the same problem with McAfee.
Same problem with Norton.....it is impossible to keep the .exe file on the computer, Norton senses it is a virus and quarantines it, with no option to restore and exempt it from future quarantines. Gog needs to step in and fix this.

I'd say Norton needs to step in and fix it..or you could just get a sensible antivirus program (snideness directed at Norton, not you :P).
I do agree it is worrisome still, though. Would be nice if GOG would prove it is not a virus.

Okay, from inside my version of Norton Antivirus, I went to Computer -> Settings -> Scan Exclusions -> Configure. From there, I added the Temple of Elemental Evil directory (including subdirectories) to both Scan Exclusions and Real Time Protection Exclusions. Once I did that, it quit deleting my ToEE.exe file.

So now I can play it with my antivirus turned on.
I use mIcrosoft security essentials and removed it also as identified as BUMA!RTS trojan virus. I am going through with installation and see whats up.

Have anyone had a problem with getting the game to run>:?
