Hello I new to the System Shock 2 community and was hoping to try out the game first in God Mode, because of this legendary difficulty. I was wondering how do you enable God Mode in System Shock 2?

Bring up the console by pressing SHIFT + ; and type "undead" without the quotes and hit ENTER.

I did it correctly typed it in but I'm still losing heath also you can try this if you want to I can't find the user.cfg to edit where would I find it

This procedure involves editing a game file; create a backup copy of the file before proceeding. Locate the "user.cfg" file in the game directory. If it is not present, copy the "ip.cfg" file from the "\help" directory to the game directory and rename it to "user.cfg". Use a text editor to edit the "user.cfg" file. Add the following entries to the file:
undead
gun_degrade_rate 0
no_spawn
This allows the game to be played in God mode with weapons that do not break and monsters that do not respawn.

I don't recommend playing it with GOD cheats as that will really ruin the suspense.

I can't complain over the weapons degrading tweak and no monsters respawning. That makes things slightly easier but doesn't ruin the whole thing so if you want it, feel free to use these two tweaks. But i really don't recommend GOD mode. At least not for the first 1 or 2 gameplays. Once you finish it twice, feel free to exploit it. I mean, with GOD mode you leave out everything related to armors, toxins and radiation, dealing with hypos, hacking ValueRep machines and gathering "healing" goods. It's the integral part of the game and using GOD mode you're basically ignoring it. Doom 2 with cheats was still just Doom 2 as shooting was the only thing to do with or without cheats. But here, using cheats pretty much ignores a lot of the game mechanics and it's imo not worth it for the very first gameplays.

God Mode?

1. Go to the main menu.
2. Click 'new game'.
3. Select 'easy' difficulty.

Congratulations, now you won't have to worry about dying.

How to not lose health: When something is making you lose health, a) Kill that thing, or b) Run away from that thing.

So many trolls, we get it, you your a facist that that hates cheating. Guess what? Unless your going to buy this guys game, or anyone else who finds cheating fun, you have NO RIGHT to push your silly agenda on people.

You people really need to grow up, its not a multiplayer game, so cheating in no way affects you, this is just blatant elitist facism.

Don't do this....
Your first run will be interesting because of the story, but brainless because you'll experience no tension and no need to plan your character. Even the plot will suffer by this...

The second run will be more interesting because you'll actually *play* the game by its mechanics, but spoiled completely because you got all the story already revealed.

Why?
just play on easy/medium, maybe avoid the OSA branch, and you'll have a normal FPS experience with all the charm intact... you have unlimited saves, quick-save, auto-saves... It is not THAT hard, FFS!

Jeez., chill out Capt. Freedom... i don't see anyone "pushing an agenda", just giving advice to avoid ruining a game.

It is not a run&gun FPS game like Serious Sam, if it is his first playthrough, doing it straight away in God Mode is simply a sad waste of a nice setting and atmosphere.

First of all, the game is just average in difficulty (and got you 4 levels of choice), and second of all, you can just go along normally and, IF you ever get stuck somewhere, still have the option to cheat a bit with it with some ammo or some cyber modules...

I mean, even in cheating, there are ways to do that right, instead of flat out tossing the game out of the window...
