Yesterday I got the game working perfectly fine on Windows 10 using the Last Resort mod. Today when I try to run the game, it instantly crashes, no error or anything. The only thing that will kill it is the task manager.

Can you set the Last Resort mod to run in Windows 7 compatibility mode? This should deal with the problem well enough until I can release the new version.

Right click on the Last_Resort.exe file and choose properties. There you should be able to choose the compatability mode. If that doesn't work try Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode.

(at least I think this info still applies to Windows 10. I haven't had much time to play with my laptop since I updated it to Windows 10, lol).

It is in compatibility mode, as that was the required fix for the "runtime error 9" error. I have no idea what the issue will be, so I'll just wait for your new version. Also, when I run it as an administrator, it asks for the CD key (I have the physical version, not GOG) but when I run it normally, it does not. Is that normal?

Damn, I thought the crash was perhaps the same as the runtime error problem.

As for the CD Key, no it shouldn't be asking for it at all. If the game is properly using the Last Resort hacked executables then it should not ask for a CD key since the executables are based upon a NO CD KEY cracked executable.

When I get time soon I will experiment more with Windows 10. I wonder if your Swat.ini or Swat.cfg files somehow got mangled. There should be a BACKUPS folder in your SWAT3 folder with backups of those two files. The backups were made when you first installed the mod.

Tried to use the backup files, didn't fix. This is weird because it was working perfect before

Thanks testing that for me.

Does Swat 3 run at all? Is it the Last Resort problem or is it a Swat 3 + Windows 10 problem?

Try to bypass the Last Resort mod completely. Restore those backup files once again and then run Swat 3 with the original shortcut that was installed with the game or run the swat.exe file in the game folder.
I tried running the game using the original SWAT3.exe before trying to use Last Resort, it didn't work at all. No windows opening or anything

Oh, sadly that sounds more like a problem with Swat 3 in Windows 10. Shit Microsoft is making it difficult for gamers that enjoy classic games.
Well that stinks

I don't know what to suggest now. A full re-install?
I've already tried that and it didn't work. Doesn't matter too much though, I could always use a VM

I'm in 8.1 and can't even get the installer to launch lol

That is strange. You may have a corrupted download? I had a Windows 8.1 laptop and the installer worked fine with it.

Check the size of the installer you downloaded. It should be 134,399 KB (131 MB)

I'm gonna download again and see what happens :)
Hm, it seems to now work when I use the dgVoodoo2 instead of WineD3D
