I was just mucking around with the game (for the first time), and I noticed that checkbox for user missions so I thought I might investigate some more. I was surprised that it'd need some simple txt file coding to make them instead of using an actual tool. At least they seem to be very small in size because of it. Not sure if I'm ever going to bother making some myself, but it's nice to know there is that option, as well as the fact that once I'm done with the campaign there are other sources.

Several months ago I was told that MaxOoze's Startopia website, which used to be the one stop spot for all things Startopia, went offline last summer and, as a result, several mods had become unavailable on the internet. I spent the better part of the last three months whipping up this website in order to give the Startopia mods a new home.

The site is far from complete, right now it focus mainly on mods and content released prior to 2014. I am still missing a lot old stuff. I have not delved into the modding tools yet. Nor have I had the time to scan the Steam, GOG, and r/Startopia subreddit for new mods that have been released since 2014. But I didn't want to delay the site any longer, so without further ado:

Does "Year of the Cat" require that the custom skins be used or can I just put the mission folder in "missions" and let it use the normal skins? If it requires the skins I will skip it, as I did the Mucky foot missions that require extra parts outside the missions folder.

No, the skin files are not required for Year Of The Cat to play correctly.

By the way, by "Mucky foot missions that require extra parts outside the missions folder" I'm assuming you mean the Targatelli Affair. That extra part outside the mission folder is only there for players who want to enable Targatelli's protection services during sandbox games. You can very well enjoy that mission without copying the extra part. Simply copy the mission folder and ignore the extra part.

I had such a blast playing those levels, the contribution of the Startopia modders simply dwarf what the original game has to offer in both quality and quantity, it would have been a shame not to share them.

I have also updated my original post a bit, since the Startopia Post website disappeared from the internet sometimes in between 2012 and now, and so I uploaded the three mods and the v1.0.1b patch that were only available on the Startopia Post website on my MediaFire account.
