FearfulSymmetry: For some reason, this never works for me. I've tried editing the ini, but the game always starts in the largest size you can select in the menu - which is 1024x768 I believe.
could be perhaps something to do with the new exe gog sent me (integrated chip), or that maybe something is leftover from using UNIWS?! - not too sure and as I'll be without internet in an hour or two, i doubt I'll get a chance to check and get back to you before monday at the least.
will do so if things change for me!

I've read that it's possible before, but somehow I never got it to work. (Note: I have the retail version, waiting for a sale to get these games on GOG as well, so there might be some differences in that. And I've got a 1366x768 resolution, which seems to be problematic in and of itself when it comes to this game.) I'd be curious to hear if you find out more!

ah yeah - retail version might make a difference.

my res
is the same, but I always keep it at 1360x768 as it causes less problems overall (found some games - particularly older ones - wont work at all if my desktop is set to 1366. O_____o?).

Yep, I was thinking it might. Well, I'll pick up the GOG version soon enough and see if it makes a difference. And if not - I've played through this game on a smaller resolution many times, so I'll manage. :)

Really? That's odd. Can't say I've encountered anything like that, but then again, I don't have a lot of really really old games. Just old-ish ones, mostly.

i'd say a good 10-20% of my GOGs have issues if my desktop res is at 1366. 1360, far less issues. even caused issues with some art packages.

anyways, am offski. inabit! :)

That's quite a lot, actually. It's remarkable how much influence small changes can have.

Yep, thanks for all the information!

Lackey_Liesmith: When it comes to restored content beside mentioned in the guide from first post TSLRCM there is also compatible with it M4-78 Enhancement Project, available here:

Actually the M4-78 mod is available in the first post too, it's pretty comprehensive. The lower widescreen resolution fix is also listed at the bottom the page. But thanks for sharing more links.

Indeed , both are mentioned and with them guide seems to be complete. Great job :)
Just one question: what should be edited in .ini file to support higher resolutions?

You can't get higher resolutions by simply editing the .ini, the game maxes out at 1280x1024. The only way to get higher resolutions (until GOG gets the recent official update that includes widescreen support) is to follow the steps listed here:

http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Star_Wars:_Knights_of_the_Old_Republic_II_%E2%80%93_The_Sith_Lords#Widescreen_resolution
Actually 1600x1200 is the max for the regular game... I ran that for ages before the Steam version allowed me 1920x1080 now.

My bad. Since my monitor has a max res of 1680x1050, the game probably never shows me 1600x1200 as an option, it just shows 1280x1024 as the max (before the update).
Same thing for game number one?

Unfortunately, yes. At the moment, the first game does not have any official update to change that, but Aspyr (the guys who updated KotOR 2) have said they would like to do that eventually.
