This guide is the way I did my last couple of playthroughs of this game. It really is the ultimate resource to get the very best experience out of the game. KOTOR2 is still a very buggy game. This does help increase it's stability in most instances, however I did have a weird problem (playing the Steam version) with a crash later in the game that I had to restart my playthrough from an earlier save to get past it. I was unable to determine if it was due to a patch or just original bad code.

I did not write this guide, but I would never play the game again without following it.

cheers vulchor - will have a look (currently suffering the crash after the intro issue).

nice to see you about!
Someone should probably edit that wiki to include this:

Hey bro you know what ? You're awesome ! Have a cookie for your awesome work, it really helps !
Does anyone know if GOG version of KotORII has widescreen support? Or at least works with UniWS?

Lackey_Liesmith: Or at least works with UniWS?
yes it does - but dialogue is cut off for resolutions under 1280x960
Thank you kindly. Dialogue is not a problem. This mod fixes it:

i found out by accident last night, that even though its not supposed to (according to the pc gaming wiki and other sources), the game will actually do 1280x768 by merely editing the ini - the hud does stretch a tiny bit, so ill have to try that too
When it comes to restored content beside mentioned in the guide from first post TSLRCM there is also compatible with it M4-78 Enhancement Project, available here:

OK, I know about the TSLRCM, but I'm completely lost when it comes to other mods. Can someone give me a bulleted list of "OK, THESE mods you need to install for modern systems"? Preferrably one that includes a mod that unlocks the gender locked companions.

Is this what you're looking for?

I've never used it myself, but that's the first mod I thought from your post.

As for lists, I'm not sure. There are a lot of mods out there, and varying opinions on them. TSLRCM is the only one I feel is 'must have for modern systems'.

Edit: I'd recommend browsing through the downloads section on Deadly Steam and looking at all the highest-rated/ highest-downloaded ones. I'm sure you'll find stuff you're interested in.

Yeah, Deadly Stream is first place to go but besides TSLRCM and M4-78EP most mods are purely aesthetic in nature and not needed to fully enjoy the story. Well , that and Widescreen UI Fix for fonts in dialogues. When it comes to gender locked companions - they are locked for reason. Unlocking them messes with story.

Yeah well, someone forgot that when they were writing The Old Republic and decided to make the Exile female, but still have the Handmaiden on her team.

For some reason, this never works for me. I've tried editing the ini, but the game always starts in the largest size you can select in the menu - which is 1024x768 I believe.
The largests size is 1600x1200... though depending on monitor/graphics card it may not offer that high.

H4F,D4M works fine (I've made it after all) but of course Handmaiden will still refer to you as male and Disciple as female in their conversation, since no others are recorded (and it's just a bit too many of them to splice).
