I got hardware mode working on my retail version of the game a while ago on Windows 7.
I used the ddraw.dll ( ddraw_(hack_viewport3_clear2).zip ) from
this site.
It required running the menu in windowed mode with the " -windowgui" command-line parameter (otherwise menu graphics were garbled). Windows seems to disable desktop composition automatically once I get into fullscreen gameplay (I don't have the compatibility option set on the game exe).
I also used the Jedi Knight Unofficial Patch ( JKUnofficialPatch_2008-01-16.zip ) from
here - I don't think it's needed for hardware acceleration to work, though.
steini0789: Does this version also have that weird 30fps cap on the camera movement?
Tuskin38: I'm pretty sure considering how old the game is, having above 30 would probably break things.
Maybe. It's kind of odd that only the camera has that limitation, though - the rest of the game works pretty well at 120fps (I think the first-person weapon animations might play a bit faster than normal if the game runs at >60fps).
