The previous Windowed Mode thread is from 2017 and the fix is no longer available, is there any way to play this in windowed mode currently?

I was able to use dxwnd for this. However, I did not find something that would allow me to take keyboard/mouse focus away from the game without soon crashing it or causing it to self-terminate when it detects the loss of an exclusively acquired DInput device.

Just for anyone still trying to get a windowed mode, I used Dxwnd with the following profile settings. You should save this as "myconfig.dxw" or similar and import it into Dxwnd.

You will likely need to change the path settings to find your executable, and you may also want to change the window size (I changed mine to look slightly larger on my monitor).
