It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

uninstall33: This site has since short been moved to https://steamworkshopdownloader.io/ and got an update. It looks like it has disappeared from google because of the domain change.

squid830: That .io site doesn't work anymore - try this one instead: http://steamworkshop.download/
is there any way to trick steam into installing mods into a cracked game ( the game i want mods for is "a hat in time")
also the site that you suggested does not work

Please read the info posted in the OP - especially the last two paragraphs.

The updated link in the OP should work, IF the game has workshop mods downloadable by anyone (not just game owners). It sounds like the game you're interested in does not.
Works like a champ!
Put in https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=801739608
Got a HUDOverhaul.sgm which I put into "C:\games\Starpoint Gemini 2\Mods"
Started the game and there it was in the menu!
Is it possible to get EPOE (Expanded Prosthetics and Organ Engineering) with any of these websites.

Thanks! But I have to get a Steam account to access this. Is there anyway to put it in dropbox or PM me or something?

No, you don't. The whole point of this thread is to describe ways to download such files without Steam accounts. I just downloaded it myself using the provided link and the "Enhanced Steam Workshop Downloader" script from greasyfork with Tampermonkey, which provides a "Download" button that usually works.

As a side issue, I wish this thread could be moved to the general discussion forum, since probably over half the posts have nothing to do with Shadowrun Returns or its sequels. In fact, this should probably be reworked into a sticky thread in that forum. I say this not only because I am distracted by its presence here, but also because it is clearly of general interest to gog.

That would be a good idea. I reckon half of my follow-up posts alone were in relation to games that were not Shadowrun.
forgive me for being a complete noob when it comes tot his sort of stuff, but what are you actually meant to do with the zip/file once you've downloaded it? any help will be much appreciated, thank you

If you're asking for the Shadowrun series of games, unpack it to <SR_base_dir>\<SRGame_Data>\StreamingAssets\ContentPacks

The main directory (that you just unpacked) should be the name of the new content, though this often consists of a long hex string. Underneath that should be art/ and data directories plus some files (project.cpack.bytes should always be there).

Where <SR_base_dir> and <SR_Game_data> vary based on game of course - but the latter should always end in _data for the Shadowrun games.
So I take it if the game does not allow public downloads there is no way to get around it?

Pretty much. Best you can do is ask the developers to unlock it - sometimes the devs do this unintentionally and are actually open to unlocking (case in point: Invisible Inc, workshop wasn't public initially but has been for some time now).

After some research, in case the developer still locks it, some ways to get around this are :

Looking for the file on http://catalogue.smods.ru/ (~20 big locked games)

Or, sometimes, legit owners host files for other to download. This is typically found by searching cs.rin forums within the threads related to a game (in order to get the mod for your legit non-steam copy of the game)

I am glad to have a forum to ask these very pertinent modshop questions. I have tried using the steamdownloader for Crusader Kings II. It hasn't worked, something about it not being supported. I assume the Paradox developers don't allow it, but EUIV mods works fine, so has anyone gotten CKII mods off of the downloader? Thanks and hails!

Could someone please try to get this sweet mod and put it on a junk gmail drive account? I can't get it to work in the website but it's super cool.

Oh, and by the way, what ever happened to Shadowrun Unlimited? Last time I played the main quest ended with the dwarf in the apartment.
_____
Hey! Other mods mods download from CKII in a "mod" file but the Ancient Religions Reborn comes out in a "file" file, which doesn't interact with any program to open it. At least CKII mods seem to be mostly available now!

I found it on Github! https://github.com/xirsoi/ancientreligions I realize no one was interested in this but CKII didn't work on the downloader months back ago. Glad it works!

can someone please help me install mods? my game is CK2. i can download it, unzip it to mod folder, it shows up in launcher, shows up in game "content" menu, will not show up in game.
i have installed about 20 mods, they all do the same thing. anyone know what i am doing wrong?
Well.. for some games like Hat In Time, you're fucked
"The game that this item belongs too does not allow downloading of its items" on https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1370035983
Guess GOG users are not allowed to use mods for that game.

"I think it's not actually possible to use a downloader for newer steam workshop stuff, because it uses the same download depot system for mods as for games. It all goes through the steam client now.

In the past the steam workshop used to use a different system where the game itself would download mods using an API, which I think is what that steam workshop downloader is trying to use. "

Ah ok.. so... vendor lock in completed. Congratulations you guys.
