I was hovering around the shop and lamenting I didn't buy Duke 3D in time when I stumbled upon SR2, a game I already own in Steam and runs like a rotten lemon. However, while taking a look at the critics I saw one (the first one) that said:
"The game actually works now people. You don't need to copy paste your steam review here. The issues have been fixed. GOG really needs to tie game ownership with reviews."

Is this true? Is the Gog version actually playable? Because if that's so I don't mind rebuying the game.

Not really. As you've seen in the thread on SaintsRowMods.com, this is the same version like on Steam, just with a 30 FPS limiter. See this thread if you want to reverse this.
it is working, i and few my friends have it running fine, i just noticed some minor visual glitches when runing it 30+ hours non-stop but it could be duo to heat buildup in computer after day+night+day constant play

no im not and what is your point, gog have made mods for deus ex available here so why cant they make saints row mods that fix the game avilable here. wheres the issue
I'm sure the dev would love it if GOG included an unofficial, unlicensed MOD with their product. XD

1. They are not official.
2. They do not just have official/original content.
3. The source code for the PC version of SR2 was lost anyway.

GMDX mod is not here, only that Retention one.

Which are the best patch options in the mod installer for a stable game but not too far from vanilla? Thanks in advance

Ir's been a couple of years, but looking at that list, for a vanilla experience, I'd just change the controls because that was the most broken.
