meonfire: thanks for the patch :)

does anyone know why gog doesnt update game so that this patch is allready included ?
this kinda upsets me
The same reason they use the 1.0 release not the 1.2 gold version (everything in the US patch plus a couple of small bug fixes). The new owner probably only has the rights to the original game not the patchs.

Hmm how strange they don't even have the making of etc that's included on the gold edition...

xMrAx: Tried this patch, but with it I get horrible screen tearing.
I just installed the patch (after briefly playing without the patch) and the screen tearing jumped out at me as well. Did you find a solution to it?

Aaronjw13: I successfully installed the patch, and the difficulty settings and key rebinding options have been added. Unfortunately, the patch has had the side effect of screwing with the colors/lighting. In dark rooms with candlelight, it seems like the colors are separating, so that you see bands of blue, red and green, rather than anything remotely looking like candlelight. Anyone else with this issue?

EDIT-- or am I just going crazy? Was it always like that? Can't actually remember now.
I was wondering about that. I didn't run the unpatched version for that long but I don't remember the torch light be so banded. (I don't see blue/red/green more blue/brown) I really should have kept the original files before patching. Particularly as the Verify function in Galaxy reports "Server Problem"

Did some digging on this patch today and the terrible colors/lighting that came with it. No you are not crazy, it absolutely ruins the colors. Unfortunately whatever changed is buried in \Realms of the Haunting\Roth\Roth.exe -- I already checked all the other files in this patch and its definitely Roth.exe that screwed up the video. I'm not well versed enough in x86 and hex editing/decompiling to locate the problem and fix it. Hoping somebody more knowledgeable than I am sees this post.

update: Do not waste your time with this; just start dosbox without the autoexec and use CTRL + F1 to rebind keys (reference the manual) - The difficulties don't really change much either.

The added difficulty options are nice, but damn, after patching to the US version I get really bad screen tearing. Also like the person above me said, the colors and lighting are screwed up. It's pretty much not worth playing to me because of this. I already noticed one bug fixed, but it doesn't even bother me compared to this tearing.

Have you tried to push letter 'v' to lower the gamma correction? EU version has the gamma at the lowest by default while USA one has it two levels up, and, imo it look worst that way.

Can someone please reupload the patch? Link seems to be broken.
yes please, seems broken.

Please, note, that it's always best to decide, whether you want to install US patch or not, before starting your walkthrough. I was in a middle of the game when decided to change UK to US, and it seems save games from UK are incompatible with US.
