delicieuxz: Cool. I just bought Quake on GoG (already had it on Steam).

I suggest making the GoG store page for Quake a bit clearer that it includes the original Quake. When I saw "Quake: The Offering", I wondered if that was some stand-alone expansion pack. I see no description on the store page detailing that it includes the original Quake and two expansion packs. I found that information by doing an online search.

I notice that the store page says that Quake: The Offering includes the two map packs, in the last paragraph on the page, but it doesn't say that the original game is included. But I recommend stating that the package includes the original game and two expansion packs clearly on the store page, such as with bullet points.
If only they announced it a day early... Already got Quake for free on Bethesda.net during QuakeCon last year but I grabbed a cheap Steam as soon as I heard the news. Now that it's coming to GOG as well I might have to get a third copy at some point :P

I'm assuming they'll update the store listing once the enhanced update is available on here.

There is no such thing like owning too many Quake copies.

honx: will we still be able to download the currently available version of quake after enhanced version is available?
avatar
Berzerk2k2: Probably not so I recommend saving yourself a copy of that version in case you want to play some custom stuff like AD. From what I've heard so far the new one comes bundled with the original version though and you can then pick wich one you want to launch.
The steam and bethesda.net client allow you to play the regular quake or the rereleased quake. It would be very strange if the GoG version did not do so.

FulVal: What about the re-release of Doom1 & 2?
And release of Doom 64 & 2016?

SmollestLight: As you may have noticed, Quake® Enhanced (updated and visually enhanced version of the original) is available on Steam since Aug 19th. We're in talks with the publisher and have their confirmation that the GOG version of the update is currently being finalised, and will be available on GOG.COM. We'll be sure to let you know when that happens.
GOG users who already own Quake will automatically receive the new enhanced version with a free download.
Can you talk to Bethesda into bringing the updated 2019 versions of DOOM, DOOM II, and DOOM 64 onto GOG as well?

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
That's extra nice!
Oh, good. I was worried I would have to buy it again on Steam.
Thanks for keeping us informed. Can't wait to dive back in!
That's great news! I'll gladly wait!

I seriously hope that it will not replace the existing setup and is its own separate entry in GOG library. Quake 1 Enhanced edition is cancer that doesn't work half the time and has incredible amount of bugs. Not only that but it has all the modern gaming cancer from intro video garbage to eula issues and semi-forced online connectivity stuff.

Heck it doesn't even use Quake Engine but that KEX thing from Nightdive Studios and because of that the movement is broken and half the jump tricks don't seem to work which they've then compensated by increasing player speed.

@Kuroko : if they don't remove the cue files of the original CD + the expansions, it will still be possible to enjoy the original experience.

To avoid any bad surprise, i will recommand you to download the installer now, install the game, and backup these files found in the installation folder :
game.cue
game.gog
gamea.cue
gamea.gog
gamed.cue
gamed.gog

They can be mounted as a CD and contains the original installer + audio tracks.

GoG makes all previous version of a game available for download. I expect, and hope, that GoG will keep separate installers available for the current version of Quake and the Enhanced version.

That would be the best solution indeed.
