Late Spring 2022 update is here!

v1.202.0 released

Greetings Patrons!

Today we’re releasing the next update and this one is linked to several features frequently mentioned by our players.

First of all, we’ve added another manually created map to play on. There are also several changes to how Foresters work (their efficiency and types of trees they plant – now they depend on the map type and the prevailing vegetation in that specific biome).

The next frequently asked change relates to ranches – sometimes the rate of using animals for meat production impeded production of other possible resources from the same ranch. With new changes, this shouldn’t happen anymore.

In the bug-fixing department, we’ve modified the duration of several tooltips (when left too long on-screen they obscured the view of the grid making building-placement tricky), and also fixed some potential stability and performance issues.

CHANGES

- ADDED: Additional hand crafted map

- UPDATED: Forester will not plant just random types of trees, but the type of tree which already exist closest to the location of the planting

- UPDATED: Every tree planted by the Forester will now grow 10% faster

- UPDATED: Hint displaying the name of the building will now disappear after a few seconds, to avoid visual obstruction

- UPDATED: Changed the way ranches work – only 50% of animals will be slaughtered for meat, and only adult ones come into calculation. Basically, you’ll always have some adult animals remaining for additional products, such as milk or similar

- FIXED: Addressed several reported bugs and glitches

Enjoy and until next update!

Patron Autumn 2022 update - version 1.310.0

Releasing Patron Autumn update - version 1.310.0.
A few more promised maps and an extensive optimization pass

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------

Greetings Patrons!

Before anything else, we'd like to apologize for the longer delay since the last update for Patron!
There were two reasons: one is our involvement with another project that is in a very sensitive phase, and the other is that we spent a lot of time analyzing your logs and data in search for more paths to optimize Patron. At this stage, the only way to find further increases in performance is to dig pretty deep, and we pursued it this time.

So what would be the highlights of this update? When speaking of new content, there are a couple of brand new maps to play with.
Some of these maps also have some added elements of visual scenery.

On the optimization front, we did a few things here: optimizations to a number of buildings and trees (trees especially tends to stack requirements due to sheer numbers throughout the maps), adjustments to level of details, major changes to in-game update loops and model rendering.

Lastly, thanks to your reports we've identified several incorrect loading hints and these were corrected as well.

A bit more detailed changelog:

* Added 2 brand new fully handmade maps
* Added shark model as scenery in several maps
* Tree model optimizations
* Several building models optimizations
* Modifications to handling of in-game update loops
* Major upgrades to model drawing system
* Correction to few loading hints

All things considered, we've measured a noticeable increase in overall game performance following this update. According to your reports and log data, we'll continue to pursue further improvements in a manner similar to this update.

Until then, have fun!

Back-porting for the win!
Patron receives optimizations, fixes and a whole new map!

Greetings and salutations fellow governors!

We come to you today with a nice new update for Patron.

Aquatico, by our colleagues at Digital Reef, is about to be released and since both Patron and Aquatico use the same underlying tech, we've helped the ladies and gents there with some engine updates. We're gradually back-porting these changes and improvements into Patron because... well... why not make Patron better? :)

Naturally, there are other fixes too, and we've thrown in a completely new map as well, just for the fun of it ;).

We hope to bring more improvements in the near future, and if you haven't already, do check out Aquatico. Give the demo a go and let Digital Reef know what you think.

With the kindest of regards, we salute you, governors!

Incoming upgrade to transport system

Medieval "traffic" improvements - frequently requested upgrades to transport system, horses and carts...

Hello Patrons!

Since you've been asking for this multiple times, we can now confirm we're working on upgrades to transport system in Patron. Time has come to ease the burden on your poor villagers! Our game might be set in a late medieval era, but "fancy rides" were still available, and they are coming soon!

New system will introduce horses and carts and they will enable for easier and faster transport around your town.

Get ready for your first medieval traffic jams !

More information on this is coming soon...

Update 1.330.4

Taking out medieval heavy equipment

Watch out for horses, carts, updated transport system, more optimizations...

Greetings Patrons!

Today we have another update with some very nice content elements. Biggest single change can be traced to one suggestion that was continually being mentioned by many players for quite some time – introduction of horses and carts. We absolutely agree that this definitely fits excellently into the game setting, plus will be beneficial from the gameplay perspective as well. So, here we are – finally ready with first “produced” horses for your benefit.

Access to horses and carts is very simple – as soon as you build your first farms or other food producing parcels, carts will appear in your depots and your people will start using them as help when gathering and transporting harvest. No more carrying everything on foot!

Since last update we’ve also been working on several reported issues and improvements – regarding orchards, collected products, visual glitches and optimizations regarding models and shadow drawing.

Lastly – there is another major change – with this update, Patron has been transferred to Visual studio 2022. This is part of the preparation we had to do in order to open up a path forward for more updates and improvements down the road. This change shouldn’t affect the functionality of the game for vast majority of players, only exception might be for users of special Windows 7 version. They might have to switch to “Steam beta branch” of the game where we’ll do our best to provide further support.

Highlights of this update can be seen here:

CHANGELOG

- ADDED: Horses and carts now exist to assist citizens carry harvest products around

- UPGRADED: Harvest resources transport system changed – when harvest comes, not all citizens will now carry products, but only assigned worker will gather harvest, then it will be transported to warehouses via carts

- UPGRADED: New transport system for food harvests will reduce workforce requirements for carriers during harvest season, therefore freeing up more workers

- FIXED: Reduced stutters with orchards during LOD transitions

- FIXED: Bags with harvested cotton are now normally visible when gathered and transported

- FIXED: Beetroot visual size increased and mage properly visible on fields

- OPTIMIZED: A number of 3D models have significantly optimized shadow drawing thus increasing performance

- MODIFIED: Entire game is now switched to Visual Studio 2022

Before we end this announcement, another sneak peek for all of you – preparations have started for another sizeable update that will be added to Patron in mid July.

Until then,
Govern on!

Update 1.400.0

– Player requested modifications and improvements

Frequently requested interventions to citizens exodus, homeless situations, ease of use for ingame panels and more...
Greetings Patrons!

Update being released today is a direct response to several leads provided by players. These leads indicates difficulties with people shifting homes or leaving the town, then needed improvements to some management panels, calculation and displaying of certain productions, more optimization etc…

When situation arises that your citizens have reasons to start leaving the town, they won't leave abruptly and in high numbers, so managing their needs should be easier. Previoulsy set up trade deals in harbors will now display a simple summary (on mouse hover), so it will be easier to keep track or your trade routes, especially if you have multiple harbors. FPS limiter has been added to options for those that requested it.

One more detail for all players that like planning and flawless execution in city organization - if you misplace the building, or change your mind where you want it - all invested resources will now be reimbursed in full if you remove the building before it is fully finished.

Based on your logs and other information provided by players, several more areas of gameplay have been identified that need to be modified. Some of these things are a little bit more extensive, and didn’t make it to this update, but are in the works already. To give you access to some improvements as soon as possible, we’ll be dividing the update in two parts. First part is today, and the second one will be in a few weeks.

Highlights of version 1.400.0. :

CHANGELOG

- ADDED: Harbor summary: when you hover mouse over any harbor, you’ll see a summary data for current automated trade setups

- ADDED: FPS limiter option

- ADDED: If yet unfinished building is destroyed, 100% of invested resources is returned

- TWEAKED: Balance for people leaving town modified. They won’t leave too fast and too abruptly anymore

- FIXED: When farm is selected, ESC key now works properly, in the following order: shutting down crop selection first, then icon for building additions, then game and initiating game menu

- MODIFIED: When citizens start demanding better housing (upgraded houses), correct notification will be displayed (not the incorrect homeless warning)

- MODIFIED: More precise display of production for some buildings. Buildings that require less then 50 resource units yearly for production, now show correct values

We wish the administration of your medieval city will be a little bit easier now, and until next update!

Thanks for every and each piece of feedback, and for every data file you provide us. It all helps nailing down next steps with these updates!

Huge optimization update, part one - v1.500.0

Extensive interventions in search of better performance!

Hello Patrons!

After several weeks of work, we're now starting to release packages aimed at boosting game performance. There will be two update packages, first one today, and second one in a couple of days.

Every file you've provided us and every log sent to us by every player helped us locating places where bottlenecks appeared. In that respect - we wish to extend gratitude to all of you for assisting us in this work.

There were interventions in several game elements: large optimizations of graphics drawings, changes to model loading procedures and massive improvements in model level of details.

Full impact of these changes will be visible once part two of this update is applied, and that should be in a day or two. But sizeable improvements should be noticeable right away, depending on your specific GPU and CPU.

As before, once you download and apply both updates, if you wish to report anything else, please do provide us with new game logs and save files. We will continue to pursue further improvements and data from fully updated game versions will be of great use!

See you very soon with another update!

Extensive optimization package, part two - v1.501.0

The Second batch of performance improvements, plus a few smaller fixes

Greetings Patrons,

As announced yesterday, our testing of second optimization package is now concluded and ready for all of you!

In general, this update includes further interventions to improve game performance. Technical details are similar to last update, but this time optimizations include much more models, and they go deeper in multiple layers. Today's update also includes improvements to foliage, trees, farm plants, as well as upgrades to level of details on various zoom levels.

After both optimization packages are installed, there should be a significant reduction of loading times, better performance when numerous buildings are constructed and more precise handling on citizens once they reach higher numbers. Note that bottlenecks we've been resolving with these two updates weren't equally visible on all machines. It mainly depends on specific hardware you use, so that means that gains will also vary. During our testing we've noticed bigger improvements on relatively slower machines. Loads on your CPU and GPU should also decrease further.

Hopefully this will make your entire experience smoother and easier to control.

Regardless of fact that last two updates were strictly aimed at heavy optimizations, we've also corrected a few minor bugs and glitches, one of which was actually pretty noticeable but also somewhat funny - snowman in front of your Town Hall won't be appearing in the middle of summer anymore :)

Final heads up on this occassion is that our work will proceed from this point, but we'll be again more concentrated at the game itself. We're aiming for second part of July for another megaupdate and few more surprises...

Until then,

Govern on!
I have an old version V1.330.5 How do I get this latest update via GOG/GOG Galaxy?

Thanks.
