MortalKombat33: "Combat Reflexes" is a prequisite to "Seize the moment" (actually, a clone of Outflank) for a reason. Obviously, Combat Reflexes do matter only if you get some feats to trigger extra AoO (such as Outflank). For example, in "Beneath the Stolen Lands", "Seize the Moment"+"Outflank" is a MUST-HAVE for any melee.

Pangaea666: Going back to this post: Does this mean that Outflank + Seize the Moment is a waste, because they do the same thing?
Nope, they stack. When you have both, each crit triggers 2 attacks of opportunity from nearby party members.

Thank you. Then it shouldn't be a waste -- as long as I can put it on another ally too. Also read somewhere that Seize the Moment is supposed to work from ranged attacks, though I don't know if that is correct or not. In theory we could then stick it on Ekun, and if he crits and a melee fighter is nearby who also has it, he should be able to get AoO from the crit. If it works that way, though...? Who the hell knows :D

Plus, anything Ekun crits is likely to be very dead very fast.
Another question about mechanics, albeit not combat related. I read that each chapter has different tiers of problems it will throw at you, and at some point tier 2 will start, which tend to be more difficult. Is this screenshot an example of that (assuming the info was correct)? It takes 28 days, and has a pretty high DC. This is during the Varnhold chapter.

Presumably there are tier 3 and maybe 4 as well, where things can get so out of hand that the barony gets into a death spiral.

Well yeah. That's the reason you don't drag crisis for too long.
Regarding that... Regongar with 4 levels into Dragon Disciple with a +str belt is a great help there. Just dont forget to bring military to high level before that sh*t begins.

Sure, and it's possible I dragged it a little too long. But I wanted to. Because earlier I did the chapter too quickly, apparently, which meant that some things that happened in my first playthrough didn't, like the wizard getting attacked by trolls. Plus, the chapter specific problems evaporate once the chapter has been solved, so that is kinda nice. At least that one did.

Looks like some quests that have high DCs will auto-succeed as well, if it's a unique problem for example. So putting those +5 coins into them is a waste (but I still keep doing it, haha). For example, the Grey Rebellion had a DC of 25 in my game. I got a combined roll of 24, but it succeeded. Looks like we merely need to put somebody on it, and it will be fine. Same with those 1-day Bald Hilltop events, at least from what I can tell.
