I'm having something of a different issue. Initially, I had the same locked title screen graphic issue other's reported, and was able to fix that with the settings changes to my NOX.exe and GAME.exe files, but if I attempt to actually play, and if I attempt to back out of the settings menu, it immediatly crashes so hard I need to use task manager to close it. Any idea what's wrong on my end?
On Windows 11, I could start Nox but I had a flickering main menu and my cursor was invisible.

I've just used cnc-ddraw, dropped it into the main game directory and the game works perfectly now. Use the cnc-ddraw config tool to use windowed/borderless, then set a resolution in-game and then drag the window to enlarge it according to your desktop resolution.

Random note: cnc-ddraw works well with Divine Divinity too btw.

Worked perfectly for me, thanks for this!
Note that when you extract cnc-draw, you need the files to go in the games directory, by default it extracts in a "cnc-draw" folder which won't work.
why gog don't install the DDrawCompat, it solve the problem for me

Hello...

1 - First of all, disable all compatibility options for the game shortcut.
2 - Then download the latest version of cnc-ddraw: https://github.com/FunkyFr3sh/cnc-ddraw
3 - And unzip the file in the game root directory; open "cnc-ddraw config.exe" and make the changes you see fit.

Enjoy!

You save my game, thanks!

DDrawCompat didn't worked for me, cnc-ddraw did the job.
What timing! I just installed this and had issues. Donwloaded cnc-ddraw and unzipped it and Nox worked first try. Thank you so much!
You're welcome guys! ;)

Keep in mind that cnc-ddraw works with practically all games that use the DirectDraw renderer. In the project repository there is a list with some games, but there are many other games that work like a charm with cnc-ddraw! =)

When in doubt about which renderer a game uses, consult PCGamingWiki, examples:
https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Diablo#API
https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Diablo_II#API

Nox uses Direct3D 7 by default: https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Nox#API
However, DirectDraw was not added to the list, either way, it is the second native renderer option.

I hope this information was useful to you. ^^

Cheers!

I m trying to run Nox on Win10 possibly with openNox, which works in both openNox and openNoxHD versions, but theres no sound at all? Whats the trick to force game make a sound in latest version, the 1.9 alpha13? EDIT: Nevermind, I just find out you have to click on those icons under sound bars to make it works. Odd.

So, then I try to run game usual way. That was hell on Earth. Intro run, but on the end of intro huge NoX logo stay on screen and screen begun heyvily flickering, keys doesnt react at all. Luckily game could be easily killed by Alt+F4.

Then I tried all combatibility windows modes, one by one, nothing worked! Then I tried to turn off all features of AMD Software, no change. After all i tried that CNC-DDRAW which really works if you set it on OpenGL mode.

---

OMG, I cant believe GOG keep selling such broken games. Its not a first broken old game I have bought from GOG in lasr years. Expendables (completely unrunnable on three different systems, GOG support unable to help and refunded me) Incubation (runs after few tries with compatibility modes)

Werent all in one easily runnable on modern systems old games and DRM free, which is no more GOG standard too, a main features of this platform? What a shame. Wake up, GOG!
