I found 3 secrets so far. Each of them contains an orb with a perk and a stone with writings on it. Does anyone know what these are good for? Or is it just the writing?

First secret: Directly above the mine's entrance. Enter the mine and get to the top right corner, bomb your way through the wall and exit the mine. Turn left and climb the hill to the very top. When you fly up in the air, you will see it floating. You can destroy the bottom with your staff, the orb will fall down. Don't waste your time trying to get up to the platform, I managed to get there, but it has no function.

Second secret: When you are finished with #1, just turn right and go a looooooong way there. You will find a desert and later a pyramid. #2 is on top. The pyramid has a closed door, can't bomb your way through. Maybe black hole might open this, but I didn't manage to collect a staff with that and get there.

Third secret: Go to level 3 (the first ice level). You will need to go a bit down, then find (or make) a way to the far right. There should be a huge open room there, just keep going right and climb the wall there. On top you should find #3.

When I went back from #3, I saw a 4th secret, but wasn't able to get there. I was flying left from the position of #3 and found a wall I could climb. I could hear the "secret sound" and luckily I had a staff with vision. The secret was there, but I wasn't able to reach it. On top of the wall there is a large lava pool, I think it is the same that is on the far right on level 1. Looks like we could travel back, if we manage to cross the lava pit. Maybe with a staff with Lava to Blood.

As I thought, you CAN travel between the different regions if you cross the lava. I just did it using a freezing staff, it converts the lava to solid rock. The longer flight perk and Lava to Blood should also do the trick.

You can also go back by digging a tunnel with black hole through the bricks. But if you do this, a monster spawns and a message says something like "The gods are angry"

A rain cloud also does the trick. I guess there are several ways to cross the lava. This game allows for a lot of creative solutions.

Thats why it is so much fun :)

In the meantime I managed to enter the pyramid. Black hole opens the door. I didn't get far though, the monsters in there are pretty tough.

Finally managed to get to #4. You can access it in two ways. The easiest one: Go get yourself a stick with black hole and make a tunnel through the wall that goes down on the right side of the lava pit. Listen to the strange sound that comes from the orb. Try to find the spot where it is loudest, the room is quite big so you should hit it.

Second possibility: Go through the lava pit. I had a wand which made a water trail - and you'll need LOTS of water to go down there. It converts the lava to rock, so you can dig down with a chaindsaw wand. The pit is very very deep, but on the bottom there is a way to enter the cave with the secret.

Btw, I found out yesterday that you can refill any empty bottle by simply diving into a liquid with the bottle equipped. Comes in very handy to make yourself a pool of water when you need to wash off acid or extinguish fire.
Found a secret health up at the far left of the collapsed mine. The area blackouts (even vision wand won't reveal) and the water is too deep to dive past without drowning. Polymorph resets breath meter so its reachable that way. You can also pseudo-infinitely climb using polymorph (until potion runs out), theres a ceiling above the pyramid a good 10+ screens up. Follow it right and its a deadend-wall, follow it left and you'll find a vertical cliff that seems to never end (climbed it for a good 20 min, background changed to more clouds there was a group of 6 flying rifle guys but thats it). Also found a secret perk on the very far right that shoots 6 projectiles in a radius (all the time) and killed me with it's explosion. Unsure how much of these are secrets and how much is just still being developed =)

Map seems huge if the entire underground stretches as long as the overworld does.

I found the blackout area, too, but didn't go any further as I wasn't able to see anything. How did you find the way there?

Polymorph is the easiest way to access the cliff right over the starting point and then secret #1. The green platform now has a use. Bring the emerald tablets with you. When equipped, they will spawn ~50 gold every 2 or 3 seconds. You can drop them on the platform for more gold, but the tablets will disappear then. I guess, it will be fixed in the future that you get endless gold...

And yes, the map is HUGE. But as the game is pain-in-the-ass hard I don't think I will ever see everything :)

You can see if you found a secret if you look in the menu on the progress button. You can see everything you found so far and there is a counter for the secrets.

I just had a look at the wall on the right edge of the world. There was a cave right under the ceiling with a rectangle shaped area in the center. This wasn't there in previous versions of the game.

Then I tried to climb the wall above the pyramid. It seems to be endless, and after a while I decided to jump off and try to fly to the left as far as I could (used 2 or 3 times polymorph). There is an area in the sky with cloudlike structures and extremely powerful (and ugly) enemies. Looks like there is a lot of stuff hidden in the game :)

And again something new :) For some reason I never tried to go left. Now I did this and flew over the giant tree there using polymorph. You'll find an ice desert and then an ocean. I found a small island with some animals and some kind of a statue (burning man?). Under the statue is a cave filled with water. Open the cave with a bomb and dive into the water, there is a perk that lets you explode every 2 seconds (without harming you) :)
I explored the black area on the left of level 1 further. You can light your way with a staff with torch. This will show yor surroundings only, but it is enough to make your way through the passage. As there is a lot of water, the perk to breath underwater is also very recommended. You can not find only one extra health orbs there, there are two of them. And also a healing item which gives you full health, like in the temples.

If you make it through the passage, you will find another area. Go to the far left and you will reach the ice desert. You can dig through the snow, but there is nothing for a looooong time. The only stuff is where the abyss with the suspension bridge is, so I suggest flying over the tree and go there instead of digging through the underground.
If you continue right from the pyramid and go loooooooooooooong through the desert you will find a black cliff, climb it and you'll reach a cave. In the middle of the cave (you have to fly up) you'll find a diamond shaped brickwork with rock on top. Make sure you have something that can dmg rock except bombs because the rock has steep slopes and a bomb will roll down unless you have the ability to dig a small hole first. Tadaaa, you now accessed the perk "Essence of Light" which permanently releases a ring of light projectiles all around you for 13 dmg. Problem: it's a troll and standing on the ground when the particles are released will dmg you, making it a pain in the hole to deal with it.

The pyramind can be entered with a bomb, btw, just lay it before the door.

Also, another secret can be found (tablet) if you just go left in the beginning where you'll eventually will find a water filled siphon. Swim through it (very long, WILL deal dmg) and at the end is an airpocket with a tablet. If you wait around or drop a bomb in there, a strange worm thingy will come to try and mess you up. The only way to come back alive from the siphon is two drop two bombs on the deep area of it, to shift the distance of the water you have to dive through.

Also note that you can only go over the entrance of the mine if you have a specific beginning AND you might need a wand with recoil to boost you up further. You can improve the total levitation distance by controlled bursts, using momentum and only if you slow down vertically, you boost again. Tried it a few times, just holding down space or W doesn't get you nearly as far.

Immediatelly at the first level, keep right until you reach a lava lake. With either freezing field or polymorph potion (you gotta use it on yourself so you increase your flying distance as the winged sheep doesn't cost stamina for flying) you find an orb right next to the lava lake. If you continue further right, you'll come to a gigantic vault. Continue right until you reach a jagged wall and climb it. There will come a moment where you'll find yourself under a bunch of overhanging rocks which try to convince you that this is the end of the line. Flip them off and carefully steer up and around them, it is possible, but you might need a few tries. If you reach the top of the wall and continue right, you'll find another orb!

One secret I haven't been able to solve: IN the mine is a dark area to the farthest left. It will only light up if you go very deeply into it, like checkpoints. Problem: you have to go through another water-siphon in total darkness. I didn't have breathless, so no luck for me.

Nice thread btw.

Yeah, that's the thing SoulEvans mentioned.

It might be useful, if you have the "immune to explosions" perk. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to test it out yet.

If you go left to the ocean, you will find another of these "troll" perks. You generate an explosion every 2 seconds. The explosion itself will not harm you, but you may catch fire, so you should not pick it without "Immunity to fire".

Yes, the door isn't as stable as I first thought :)

The game doesn't count that as a secret area. Before you go in there, fill a bottle with the water and bring it away. Repeat this and you can lower the water level, so that you take no damage from drowning.

Iothil: Also note that you can only go over the entrance of the mine if you have a specific beginning AND you might need a wand with recoil to boost you up further.
Nope, easiest way is to use polymorph to get up there. You will most of the time find a bottle with this potion anywhere in the mine, so you can almost always fly over the cliff with that. Teleport may also help, but it will be pure coincidence.

Water will also do the trick, use a bottle or a staff with a rain cloud, if you have one.

Iothil: you find an orb right next to the lava lake.
This is not always there. Sometimes there is nothing, sometimes a chest and sometimes the orb.

You can fly over the void from the cliff right of the lava lake. This way you can avoid the overhanging rocks. The secret there is the one in named #3 in my original post, at this time I didn't know it is also accessible from the mines via the lava lake. If you have black hole, don't miss #4 right under the lava lake!

I described that in my last post. You'll need torch to light up your surroundings and breathless (or a bottle and a lot of patience or black hole to drain the area). You'll find 2 orbs and a healing item in this passage. Left of it is another area which is lit.
I managed to get "Immune to fire" today and went over to get the essence of explosion in the ocean. It works, you can now safely pick this up and get no more damage from it. Its fun to run into enemies and blow them into pieces, but it also destroys a lot of the environment, which makes it a bit annoying to walk with. On the other hand it saves you a slot for a wand with bombs.

I'm quite sure that "Immunity to explosions" will work for the essence of light, which should be more usefull to have.
Sry that I did not read every single one of your posts, cute you feel the need to respond to every single statement, even though I just mentioned alternatives that you didn't include. As if in a game there is only one way to do stuff. IF you want people to join in and help, maybe consider a change of attitude.

Also, not sure if it's a secret, didn't find out what it is about, but if you climb the tree on the far left from the start you'll find an egg that will always spawn a blue worm. The odd thing is you will spawn it in various sizes, sometimes medium or huge which are even able to bury through the wood and leave a traverseable tunnel behind, but sometimes just small versions of it, which can bury through but don't leave a tunnel. Just found out shortly, so I assume it is the same worm I wrote about last time, apparently the egg can drop and shatter on itself sometimes.

If you notice a horrendous amount of screen shake, the worm probably hatched by accident and you spawned a huge version. That can come back to bite you, as the worm burries across the entire map. With me, he just hit one of the holy mountain temples and that triggered an angry god, right on top of me. Needless to say, that battle was short as I was just shuffling around my wands.
Sorry, I didn't mean to offend you. I just wanted to point out a few things that seemed interesting to me.

Btw. upwards from the nest with the egg is another branch with two more eggs. It seems to me that the green monsters only spawn if the eggs are being collected or hatch by themselves. So you can avoid these nasty monsters most of the time by ignoring the eggs.

The problem with the angry god is really annoying as these are very hard to kill. I hope they will do something about it, so that it does no longer spawn by accident.
