I made it past the damp rock at the left side of the Collapsed Mines! I know about the black tunnel leading to the health upgrade but I found another one going further which I was able to drain into the cave using a blackhole wand. On the other side is a new area, Twisted (Twisting?) Caverns. It's similar to the first area, same enemies, but with random puddles of potions all over the place and tight, twisting terrain generation. At least part of the bottom is bounded by grey extremely dense rock and at least part of the left side is bounded by red extremely dense rock. I decided to go to the upper left and found a tunnel leading to a ceiling of packed snow which I was able to blast a tunnel through using my starting spark bolt wand.

I emerged into the Snowy Wasteland area. On the right side is the World Tree (just my name for it,) and on this side of the tree I was able to actually climb to the top! Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be anything up there, just a jagged area, like the tree has been broken. So I headed left, crossing a significant area of snowy hills before reaching a swaying wood bridge spanning a chasm. I crossed and then decided to blast a path around the bridge to see what was at the bottom of the chasm. I found some of the enemies from the snow caves levels down there and since I was at 18 health and under armed I retreated and continued left.

I reached a new area, entitled Lake! The Snowy Wasteland drops off into a large body of water, in which I encountered a few fish. I crossed this to a pleasant island inhabited by deer and ducks. In the center of the island is the wooden effigy depicted in one of the trailers. Beneath it a cavity in the earth can be seen. I would assume there's something really cool down there but was unfortunately unable to explore as I had used all my blackhole charges draining the damp rock barrier. Continuing left is another lake, or perhaps the same one, connected under the island. There was a big aggro worm in this one which I shot at, it bled worm blood. I went back to the effigy for a bit and when I came back the worm was gone so I swam left and hit an extremely dense rock boundary wall, a climbable one like the one to the far right of the world or above the lava pit. I climbed this for a long time before giving up and dropping down. I feel like I fell for a full minute and landed all the way back at the left edge of the Snowy Wasteland (held right on the way down.) I believe this is the left world border but can't be sure.

I was going to go back to the Twisted Caverns to explore and see if there was an exit at the bottom, maybe go all the way back to the Mines and get some bombs to get under the effigy but I when I got back to the chasm the bridge was gone. I was able to cross by pulsing levitate and land on the opposite wall but a Turso came up from the chasm and killed me. A good expedition overall. I'm very excited to be the first one posting about this area, though someone may well have already streamed themselves going over there. I intend to go back and try to get below that effigy soon.

Also, I wanted to note, earlier I did a lot of the exploring already discussed above but did it using a digging wand, which I don't think anyone has mentioned. I clears away a tunnel-sized circle in front of you in any rocky or sand or snowy material besides extremely dense rock. Looking at my progress screen the spell is called Digging Blast, zero mana drain, zero damage, +.02 cast delay, -.17 recharge time. The description is "More powerful digging." So presumably there is a weaker version of this. A really highly recommended exploration tool.

Also, have you guys noticed that some parts of the map don't seem to regen? The Overworld appears to retain damage over multiple runs, but I have only confirmed this on some areas of the right side.

Congrats :) Passing this area is difficult, but with a torch you can at least see a bit. The area seems to be different in every game, last time I drained it with a bottle and found 2 tunnels underwater. One lead to another health orb + a healing item. The other one connected to the Twisted Caverns. When I was there for the first time, the health stuff was directly in the tunnel to the caverns.

Unfortunately the caverns seem to be empty. I never found anything there besides enemies and the spilled potions. As it is easier to fly over the tree using polymorph, I recommend doing this instead of using the caverns to enter the snowy desert.

I tried to explore this area, but never got far. The enemies are quite strong there :(

As stated above, this cave contains the "Essence of Explosion". Picking it up will make you explode every two seconds, dealing serious damage to enemies nearby and destroying the environment. Unfortunately it also sets you on fire unless you are dripping wet. So do not pick this up if you don't have the immunity to fire perk. The explosion itself does not harm you, but immunity to explosion might be useful to pick up the "Essence of Light" on the far right edge of the world.

Yes, there is a weaker version of this, I believe this only makes smaller holes. Both of them or even the chainsaw are usefull to dig, especially in a wand with high speed.

No, never noticed that. The map appears to be different in every game... At least thats what I thought. Where exactly did you notice that? If you're right, you might have found a hint to something interesting...

Btw., if you want to explore a new area... Just head up from the start using polymorph. There is a cloud area, but the enemies are freaking hard, never managed to kill even one of them.
I just found a 5th secret. I was lucky and got immunity to explosion, so I went right to check if this works on the essence of light. No more damage from this perk, great! After that I jumped down and wanted to see if there is something under the desert. After a while of digging I encountered a giant cave. And giant means really, really huge! It is almost empty (still work in progress, I think) but after finding the ground I walked back left and stumbled upon an altar similar to the one near the lava pool. There is another orb and a stone tablet. Unfortunately there are some random enemies (the floating guys with the guns) and I got myself killed. I'll go and explore this area more whenever I get suitable equipment.

Under the pyramid is another area to explore, I think it was called sand cave or something like that.

msfrog: I found the blackout area, too, but didn't go any further as I wasn't able to see anything. How did you find the way there?
Its a simple U shaped passage filled with water, best way through is just to drain it (theres an area just below the blackout entrance that can easily be bombed through to drain the water). I managed to get an early blackhole so I decided to dig left here (it required 2 blackholes, thickness is randomised as last time I could see the other side) and came across 'Twisted Passages'. Filled with many, many puddles of teleport, berserkium and chaotic polymorph make it one of the most dangerous areas yet. Doesn't help that its also full of the acid spitters. I might have to get around to returning with loot from down below but whenever I get decent gear I end up exploring dangerous surface areas instead of delving deeper..

Just chaotic polymorphed myself into a worldigger into The Lake, its effectively bottomless and not worth diving into without breathless or a ton of ice.

msfrog: Sorry, I didn't mean to offend you. I just wanted to point out a few things that seemed interesting to me.

Btw. upwards from the nest with the egg is another branch with two more eggs. It seems to me that the green monsters only spawn if the eggs are being collected or hatch by themselves. So you can avoid these nasty monsters most of the time by ignoring the eggs.

The problem with the angry god is really annoying as these are very hard to kill. I hope they will do something about it, so that it does no longer spawn by accident.
OK, never mind then. We good.

I once tried to dive into the ocean with breathless. After a few minutes I gave up, it seems to be very deep and completely empty.

And just a quick warning: Yesterday I used the altar on the cloud to convert the stone tablets to gold. The last tablet didn't only spawn gold, but a bunch of monsters, too. So be careful.

Something I noticed about that is it seems to always happen on the third tablet you offer. Happened to me twice on the third tablet from two different tablets. Also water damages the enemy that spawns. I used a raincloud to kill two of them, and the third ran off somehwere and didn't bother with him since they are strong and I was running at 17 HP at the time.

4th tablet is fine and that is all I could manage to offer before I went deeper down.

The world gen seems a bit chaotic. Sometimes it spawns floating islands that seem empty, I've seen more than a couple randomly appear above the starting area. Also have found some randomly above the desert or snow ares. The ones above the desert were more triangular while the ones above the snow tended to be circular. They tend to be around 2 screen lengths up but they are very inconsistent. They could just be artifacts of the world gen, or perhaps they are outliers of a floating biome.
Found another orb: https://imgur.com/a/GPqaGA4

Roughly ~5 screen lengths to the right of the pyramid, I found a strange V shape in the sand. This is roughly below where I remember the island was, but I didn't have the ability to check it. I dug down and found a crevice in the sand, I dug along until I came across a new area that was not dubbed at all and filled with many flying riflemen, bomb lobbers and turrets. The tablet may be a hint to another secret. The orb contains cement, it comes out as individual droplets and takes forever to get any significant amount. It hardens on contact with water. Seems to do nothing when coating the player. Its mostly very irritating to do anything with it as a single pixel will block you (digger recommended).

Edit: I should mention that this orb was very very far down, probably around the 5th biome layer.

Possibly, for me it was the third or fourth tablet - Can't remember. Good to know that water hurts them.

Th only floating biome I found so far is the one high above the starting area. But this one is very high in the air and consists of clouds only. As those round things appear in smaller forms near the ground, too, I guess they are just artifacts. But I only checked the sky above the desert and the mines and a bit over the ocean, too.
Welp, couldn't make it out. Died to a group of around 6 or 7 bomb lobbers (didn't help that my primary weapon were sawblades and I needed to fire upwards). The biomes were stacked in a:

|_
....|_

staircase pattern on the left side (dots used for spacing). I'd guess the intended route is through the pyramid. The right side was also blocked off by dense rock and I didn't get a chance to investigate upwards on the right side.

New orb at the furthest left of ice biome, the 3rd underground layer: https://imgur.com/a/EHfr8Vj

The entrance was tucked away at the left and blocked with a mixture of dense rock, rock and bricks. Not sure where intended entrance is. The area is extremely dark (can only see where character has been), has many enemies and a maze of poison acid mist (move slowly!). Some enemies are luminescent, some are just hard to see due to darkness and some are actually invisible. Homing attacks are highly recommended. This is the first guarded orb room as well. The orb yielded a holy bomb, a bomb with a massive blast radius and a bit more damage. Interestingly, I had found a holy bomb before finding this orb in this run (first one found). It was in the mine, surrounded by toxic stone, seemed like a random find.

I'm sharing my map, it should have all known secrets but as I have yet to explore the vault, the clouds or the base it is lacking in those areas. Its also not a perfect representation and made in paint so don't expect anything pretty.

I can't add much to the map, it covers the areas I explored. The clouds span more to the right, they are reachable from the altar and go even further. Left of the Twisted Caverns is dense rock, snow is only at the top left of that area, so left of the fungal caverns might only be dense rock, too.

The Twisted caverns seem to have only enemies and puddles of potions inside, I explored it almost full and found nothing else.

Btw., I had a look at the translation file. One section tells about something that helps beating the cloud area, maybe there is an item for that.
