Captainchicken84: Can't gog do anything about these people, i just find their treatment of Beamdog very unfair.

I mean some Beamdog members are former Bioware members, what's wrong with them working on their own games?

I'm glad someone gives these franchises the love and attention they deserve, and if they can make a little bit of money from that , what's wrong with that.

Btw.: I loved Siege of Dragonspear, can't really understand all the flak it got.

Stig79: If you love Siege you didn't pay attention to the story in BG2. Siege contradicts it all over the place.
ok, so i see you think as I do, and I too dislike Spear, that makes us trolls?

I don't remember Seige of Dragonspear from back in the day do you? I thought it was a new interjection into a old game by someone other than the original games creator, which it was.

it's like someone coming along and touching up the Mona LIsa and callng it original and a masterpeice though they put a clown nose on her.

have you considered the price thats being paid for a "EE" of a old game.. 20$ for a "deluxe edition" of an "Enhanced Edition" of a almost 20 year old game? 60% of and 20$?

My game crashes in the tutorial, I seriosly can't progress any further so I am SOL after paying that 20$, but since I own the other beamdog products I expected better really.

you understand that today currency is based on debt right? and you can't pay debt with debt..
you'll understand better when you get older, I hope.

That is the entire economy of the us. Debt paid with Debt, and since we owe so much, lets borrow more, and build that debt up Woohooooo.

You (all of you) still don't know why people HATE Beamdog? This has been discussed and explained in length, properly and in detail on many occasions. Where have you been all this time?

I'll try to keep it simple. Why do people consider Beamdog evil? First let me start by saying that I supported them for a long time since their first announcement of BG:EE. I spread the word, I bought each of product 10 times just to show my support. (BG1:EE, BG2:EE and IWD:EE both on steam and here on GOG).

However, Beamdog did not live up to their word. What did they do?
1. They removed the original Infinity games from the store and put the blame on GOG. A Beamdog representative came here and actively lied about it. He posted maybe 100 posts stating that Beamdog had nothing to do with the removal infinity engine games from the store.

Now read this topic by Beamdog. This confession is not out of good will but as a result of a huge community uproar.

2. BG:EE still has over 1000 bugs but Beamdog is hiding them. More now with the 2.5 version. In their official bug center, BG:EE had over 1000 bugs in 2015. In 2016, they all magically disappeared with ZERO solved bugs. What happened to those bug reports?

Let me tell you my own personal experience. I had reported 12 bug reports and had been following them. But then, they magically disappeared, only 1 of them remaining. When I wrote about it, THAT beamdog representative told me that maybe I wrote those reports with a different account and forgot about it. Me, someone who worked as IT manager for 15 years and who also used Mantis as my report/problem system forgot about my password. If that was the case, then why was 1 of them remaining? Well, I had no proof so I could not say a thing and MADE THOSE REPORTS AGAIN. Guess what happened? None of them exists now, Beamdog deleted them again.

None of those bugs are fixed in the latest (final?) 2.5 version. I am talking about over 1000 bugs in a single game and people were believed that BG1:EE is bugfree.

Do you see the point? I am not talking about the bad quality additions which made the game worse than it was before, I am talking about a company, actively and openly lying to their customers and burying the evidence.

Now, they are doing it again with NWN:EE. They are selling a 10$ game more expensive than Witcher 3. :)

Before I finish, I want to show the other side of the HATE for Beamdog to YOU. IWD:EE. They did an amazing job there. Really excellent work even tho it had many bugs that did not exist in the original game. It simply worked and extra additions were very well received. Do you hear a single person complaining about IWD:EE? NO, because it was a properly enhanced game.

In conclusion, people do not criticize Beamadog just to look cool. IWD:EE would receive the same hate if that was the case. But it is not. Hope that clears the things a little bit.

Wait, you think IWD:EE was properly enhanced? You think it is awesome and excellent? You have bad taste, and I'm tempted to quote you on my blog in order to ridicule your taste.

Even J.E Sawyer criticized IWD:EE. Do you know who he is? One of the designers on the original.

Can you please show me where Josh Sawyer said IWD:EE was bad? Because all of the google searches I found of him talking about IWD:EE was him praising EE. He thinks Beamdog did an excellent job yet only he is upset about BG2 kits coming to IWD:EE kind of hurt the balance of the game.

And sorry, I am not going to take your own blog as reference or click it.

I didn't say that JE Sawyer said "EE is bad". I said he criticized it:

"As one of the main designers on Icewind Dale, seeing the BG2 kits in there destroy all the balance kind of made me a little sad. The BG2 kits are really powerful and Icewind Dale was kind of balanced around one thing.

But it was still really cool to see it with all the tech upgrades. Trent Oster obviously has a long background with the Baldur's Gate series, so it's cool they'll make more."

Note the professional courtesy at work there: "They completely fucked the balance of my game, but I hope they make more EEs because widescreen, storymode and steam achievements!"

"And sorry, I am not going to take your own blog as reference or click it."

Why not? JES only cited the +kits. I cite the +race, +base classes, +spells, +modals, +bugs, etc. And the performance/stability issues and omission of party arbitration.

This is why I dislike you and your kind: you prefer to remain ignorant and shill for Beamdog.

In the interest of fairness, Trent Oster and Cameron Tofer indeed have worked on the original BG1. Their roles, however, are absolutely overblown nowadays. The former is credited under "modeling" and the latter, "additional programming".

Oster may have been the Lead Designer for the original NWN, but saying that he and Tofer are somehow unquestionable authorities on how to further develop the BG and IWD series is, to put it mildly, a stretch.

JES worked at Black Isle before Obsidian. Any fool can look that up on Wikipedia. He started off doing webpage work and climbed the ladder from there.

2 year old article, so what? It's the only honest review for IWD:EE on the internet and it was updated when the patch didn't address the issues. It's funny how Engerek01 complains about BG/BG2 bugs not being squashed but gives IWD:EE a free pass when its bugs aren't squashed (and IWD:EE also removed a key feature in party arbitration).

I suspect people who like IWD:EE are just BG2 munchkins who liked the over-powered BG2 stuff that was thrown in with no thought given to game balance; it's just ham-fisted feature bloat. take for example:

https://lilura1.blogspot.com/2017/08/Baldurs-Gate-2-Changes-and-Additions.html

I've written multi-part retrospectives and in-depth analyses on BG, BG2, IWD, IWD2, PS:T, NWN, NWN2, ToEE, JA2, etc.

forgive me, I only self-cite because no articles are more authoritative than my own.
