Just paid for and installed NVN 1 for the sole purpose of playing online, but it seems that's the only thing I can't do. Have read a bunch of the forums here, but am just getting more confused. Some say the CD key is the issue, others say the auth server is no longer working, making CD keys worthless. Some say to edit .ini files, but that doesn't work.

Can someone please just help me out? All I want to do is play NWN online with my friends, since we now live far apart and can't game like we used to.

Official.
OK, so the CD key is the issue then? Put in my request, but it seems weird that I wouldn't receive one with my purchase.
I don't mean to sound pushy, but I want my problem solved immediately or I want my money back.
This is no better than an illegally downloaded version right now.

I should not be made to wait for a CD Key, since that is the ONLY thing that you can't get from an illegal copy.

Put in your request? Take your head out of your ass. I'm just another customer. For some reason NWN1 CD key process isn't automatic yet. Ask GOG about it if you can stop crying long enough.
First of all, you are not helping so just stop.
Second of all, I don't see how a legitimate complaint is considered crying. Thank god you don't work for GOG. At least you bother to get back to me though.

If I don't hear back from someone in the next hour I am going to cancel the payment. That is not a threat, but a statement of fact. A valid CD key should come included with every game, otherwise I am paying for NOTHING. Like I said, illegally downloaded software can play just fine offline.
How is your screen?, I had to wait about a week for them to email me a new Cd Key to play online.. Finnaly got it but my screen is only the size of a post card
LOL. Don't let the door hit you in the bottom on your way out, Playa. Next time you might want to actually read the product description before buying something. God forbid you should by a legal version of the game in order to financially support the distributors, developers and publishers of a superior game.

Just FYI I got my CD key 2 business days after buying my GoG version. I think that's pretty reasonable considering it had to be manually done by a support staffer, especially considering these poor people have to deal with so many tantruming divas every day.

Just over a day, to be exact. ;)
The way this works isn't perfect, but we're working on making the process automatic. If it were possible for NWN1, we would definitely do it, but this isn't realistically possible - at least not yet.

Without more background information I can only guess that you set the game to a low resolution (800x600), on a high-resolution monitor, and your card has screen scaling disabled. Please check what resolution setting your game is using.
Are you using windowed mode?

Optionally you can run it in windowed mode. NWN is awesome on high res screens in windowed mode.

I like to watch videos while I play.

For what it's worth - I read that as '(I have) Put in my request...'

I don't think the guy was giving you an instruction!
Can you describe the issue in a little more detail? Can you describe what is happening? Do you get any sort of error message?
