I just played a motocross single game with those settings. I didn't drop a single frame. I'm running Win7 64 Ultimate on a Socket 775 (not even an I7). I couldn't get this game to run with 3D support with glide wrappers or anything else.
That's good to know, thanks. From the details you mentioned I have practically the same system as you. Still, I think the framedrop problem would still be there on my system; someone else has reported it
happening on the GOG version as well.
Concerning the Direct3D/Glide/Software issue, I am really not sure whether it does even make a difference in terms of visual quality. It's quite possible that with a detail level of 5/5 the game look as good as it will, and 3D accelerators were only required back in the day for performance reasons. It looks pretty neat anyway, and I don't remember it to have looked prettier back when I still could play it with Direct3D. Also, the game never had Glide/3Dfx support.
