Trying to run 4-5 on Windows 10. The game loads fine and I can probably play the entire Clouds world.

However when I try to use the pyramid to enter Darkside, I get a message to hit Cont + F4 and enter. At that point the game is frozen and I can't reach Darkside.

The help bot is useless, and keeps asking for name of game/

What is the crash? The body of your post describes the game being stuck, but not crashed. A search for "World of Xeen" + "f4" leads to World of Xeen bug..., which seems similar to your post. Does that GOG thread help?

Thank you. I checked the comment thread you suggested and have the exact problem Years ago the pyramids worked and now the game freezes as soon as I click on a pyramid. So I tried to start a game using the floppy disc option and now it works.

So if I understand correctly, it's a problem related to the CD rom version with speech?


I never understood the appeal of voice acting in old 90s games...or "speech packs, LOL"... horrendous voice actors don't add anything to the gameplay, in my opinion.
Worse still, many early 90s games removed the text when speech was enabled! (KQ5 and KQ7 are notorious for this!)
