There was some really great moments in the beginning and I was hooked, I did play fighter though so I never experienced the same problems as others mentioned here but I lost interest somewhere after the middle.

OddMotorbikeGuy: Not really. I'd say it's IWD2 to the BG series.
It plays similarly to Arcanum, but I didn't like that game so...
It's a great game, a little slow at the start and hurried at the end, but I like it. Recommended!

IWD2? The Icewind Dale series is my favorite Infinity Engine games, so if they're comparable I might buy this game.
Right so, I get the idea that this game was meant to be an RPG along the lines of Fallout, and less like Diablo. As that kind of complex RPG the game ultimately doesnt live up to what it should. My question is this: How is the game from just a pure hacknslash standpoint? Is it good enough to be a Diablo clone? Or is it just not fun on both accounts. Would you recommend it to fans of mindless hack and slash? (Such as myself :P)

Well, that depends, I personally liked the game storyline and the unique setting. I would say it's more similar to other Black Isle titles than to Diablo. I never played the multiplayer though, only went through the game once to follow the story and I enjoyed it. It is not that much ONLY hack & slash once you leave Barcelona and the game has some twists (e.g. war that changes locations drastically). I enjoyed my adventures with it. The other thing being much different in comparison to Diablo is that there is a shortage of equipment possibilities. There are very few "unique" you can say items and basically once you have 'the best' set for your character there is not much more you can search for. If you can stand doing some quest from time to time apart from killing all the time, it is possible for you to have fun with this game. On the other hand, if you are looking for Diablo replacement, this is not the one.
Well. I eagerly anticipated this game ever since I saw the first screenshots and dev. interviews in PCpowereplay quite some time ago. Being a monster fan of Black Isle and investing more time in the Fallout/BG universe than worth estimating, I coudn't wait for it. Especially considering the setting and beautiful art direction that seemed to be going on.
I bought it as soon as I could and set about squeezing s.p.e.c.i.a.l points, but about 2 or 3 hours in I felt something was lacking. Character interaction was all good and well, the engine ran nicely... if a little strange in it's departure from standard. BUT then it hit me after opening the 32nd chest or so... random gear. They are loading random gear into these chests. Oh no.
I hit the wall. And my cd mysteriously disappeared. To me it was a sign of short-cutting, or one big tailormade illusion facade. Looks good on the outside, but will rip you off if you want some deep and giving.
Still, maybe it's about time I played Jagged Alliance 2. =P
ps. reckon Navarro in fallout 2 was named after that guitarist guy from janes addiction?
