Will be? I want to play it, I've never done!
Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain is in a quite bad spot in terms of who has the rights for the game. The developer - Silicon Knights went bankrupt in 2014 and even way earlier there were some legal fights between them and Crystal Dynamics (developer of Soul Reaver 1 and 2 and Defiance).

You can read more about the Blood Omen's the development, the history of Silicon Knights and their problems here:

This doesn't bode too well for BO:LoK and it's availability in the near future, unfortunately.
While the PS1 version is available on PSN in US and EU, the PC version of Blood Omen is a copyright nightmare, with not only Crystal Dynamics and SIlicon Knights, but also Activision having rights to it.
That's too bad. I have them all for PS1 and 2 but bought the PC versions here on GOG, but this one's missing to a complete collection. The PS1 version of Blood Omen needs to load too long and too often, whereas the PC version has practically no loading times, at least on current machines.
Sorry for a late post, but I don't see what's the issue? Being sued by a company that no longer exists? With the world obsessed with shitty remake/reboot/reimaginings, how can something worth another release be in such limbo?

Activision, horrifyingly, still exists.
I didn't know Activision had any hand in the original, or is that the problem?

I thought it was Crystal Dynamics and Eidos, unless one or both were absorbed by them, I don't really pay much attention to big name devs/publishers anymore.

Either way, I think even a remake would be cool at this point since it kinda sucks that the series has such a great story and voice acting. Plus that top-down dungeon crawling style is still alive and well on PC, and I still hold the original above even the Soul Reaver games personally. I guess we can only hope, there was a time we could never imagine seeing System Shock get any support either.

That's the thing, Eidos was NOT involved with the first Blood Omen game at all; it was published by Activision. Only from Soul Reaver onwards was Eidos the publisher. That's part of the copyright nightmare this game is currently in.

And I personally agree with you: the other games are good (Soul Reaver 1 is fantastic, actually), but Blood Omen will always be my favorite. And if there ever is a remake (which will probably never happen), I would hope they would keep the graphics in 2D (which will DEFINITELY never happen, I know).
Never say never.
For the graphics, Also the current level of 3D on a two dimensional gameplay sounds a good option to me. See for example the latest Mortal Kombat (9 and X). Losing Simon Templeman as Kain's voice would be a much bigger loss for me.
Still, I guess this game, be it rereleased and/or remade, is going to remain wishful thinking for quite some time.
Technically Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain is abandonware, and abandonware is very easy to legally find on the internet for free. Just saying.

There is nothing legal about abandonware. The term is just a convenient euphemism for piracy.
And as mentioned before, you can buy the games on PSN.

Doesn't help if I, or others, don't have a PS3.

Might not be legal, I guess, but you won't get in trouble for it.

But no guys, whatever you do, DON'T go searching for digital PC versions of games that you CANNOT get anywhere legally. You're just screwed and you can't play the game ever. Sorry. You're fucked until this debacle gets solved (which will never happen, but hey) and GOG makes the game available for purchase.

Frankly, at this point, I don't see any ethical problem with piracy. It's a great game that risks being lost to time because of confusing copyright laws and bickering companies who prefer the virtual ownership over a software that won't make them a single cent any more over preserving art.
I found it on Ebay, original cd-rom version. Works fine even on windows 10 :)

my personal copy of BO1 worked on my previous windows 10 laptop, but i got a desktop 2 days ago and now NONE of the LoK games work. the other 4 are through steam, and i haven't a clue how to even go about finding solutions, but at least with Blood Omen there *are* available solutions, i just have to find them.

tl;dr kain vs win10, kain loses somehow
