I have a number of games that I bought on Steam, but are now available for me on GOG too. The reason is that the "ownership" of the game was "duplicated" from Steam to GOG using GOG Connect. I wonder if that is possible with this game too. It would be nice if that's possible.

Has anyone tried this?
No its not possible.
At least yet.

You can have a look here if you can connect transfer games:

I have the old version of KOA:R and both of the main DLC's from Origin.
Would've been nice, if that got its own GOG Connect-like program for Origin.

Of course, would've been nice if the old-version of KOA:R was on GOG also.

I don't think that will happen because EA would need to agree to publish the old KOA on GOG.

And EA likely would have to agree not only w/ GOG, but also w/ THQ Nordic since they (THQ Nordic) now hold the IP, correct?

Also, like many games - I don't see the old version KOA:R being sold much of anywhere now. Amazon's not selling it anymore; and it looks like only Humble, GreenMan, and Origin are selling it.

Exactly.

About the sells: Yes they want to sell the new version, cause THQ Nordic won't have much from sells of the original Version. Because they can release content for Re-Reckoning, and so its good for them to have the community on that new release.

Ehh... That's not exactly what I mean. I own the original on Steam, and thus can buy the game (+Expansion) for a significant lower price. It's that NEWER game license that I would like to see transferred to GOG using GOG connect. In other words - If I own the new game on Steam I would like to own it on GOG too.

Sure - GOG won't get any money from that construction and I don't like that, but it would be nice if people would get the GOG installers for that new game using GOG Connect.

Ah i see, well that is theoretically possible, but i have no idea if they'll do that.
If you bought it already on Steam, you can go to this site and link your Steam account to your gog account.
If the game appears on that site then, you can activate it on Gog, too:

Oooh, I got cha. You would probably buy it on Steam b/c of the Loyalty discount there (60% right now) since you own the original there; and then you'd want to "GOG Connect" the new version over to GOG.

Yeah, that makes TONS of sense.

I have KOA:R and all DLC's on Origin myself. I wish there was a discount or something on Origin, since I own it there.

I'll probably have to wait for it to get cheap on GOG here (or it ends up cheap on Humble, which probably would be a Steam key), as I do really hope Fatesworn's good and actually adds a fair amount of new content.

Combining the Remaster stuff w/ new content - yeah, I really like that idea; I wish more games would do that, so that I'm not just getting a straight-up remaster. I think THQ had the right idea here, TBH - which they also did w/ DLC's for Titan Quest: Anniversary (with Ragnarok DLC and Atlantis DLC).
While GOG Connect Transfer is out of THQ Nordics hands, offering the 50% Owner Discount on GOG doesn't need EA's permission.

I don't use, or want Galaxy, and I've never seen any use for Store Clients, that I wanted, until now.
There is a new feature, only provided with Galaxy v2.0+, called account linking.

We can link our Steam (even Origin), accounts, and give Galaxy permission to use the Steam API, to scan the games in those libraries.

Using the Steam API to scan whether you own KOAR Original, is exactly what THQ Nordic must use ON STEAM.
THQ Nordic do not control that original install, so must use an API enabled library scan, exactly like Galaxy does.

All THQ Nordic, or GOG needs is to check if we have KOAR original in Galaxy v2.0+, if you've linked your account, and own the game it shows up, even if uninstalled.

It's a trivial matter, the account linking is done by users, all that's requirred is the ability to check.

When I suggested this fact on the KOAR-R Discord, a Dev came up with feeble excuses, that boiled down too the fact it couldn't be done, because it had never been done before.

WTF, Galaxy's account linking feature had never been done before.
So GOG should give up linking accounts, as this dev claims new ideas can't be done.

If THQ Nordic can check Ownership on Steam, they can do so on GOG, even if KOAR was bought on Origin (though it's included with EA Play, which may cause issues).

Upshot is, I will not get this game, without that Discount, and the current full price is a ripoff
Game = £34.99 ($39.99) and with 60% off = £13.99 - It should be £33.70 (Steam = £34.99 and with 60% off = £13.99
+DLC = £54.99 ($54.99) with 60% off = £21.99 - It should be £46.33 (Steam = £47.99 and with 60% off = £19.19

Note that's the current equivalent to standard $60 price, is really £50, not thee £55, or even $60 we get shafted with on all stores.

So as a penalty for making the 60% owners discount a Steam Exclusive, I will only buy this game+New DLC, for under £15 on GOG.
I'm not impressed with the quality of the remaster, and don't consider it Value For Money, at the full price (or meagre !0% off).

Yeah - At first I was; "I am definitely going to buy it", but now I see it's 60% less on Steam, I am getting "wet feet". If the price difference was less, I would certainly have bought the game on GOG, but 60% difference is just too much to take the bite.

I do not want to buy the game on Steam, because I don't like an mandated client to install and play the game. I want my game files on local storage, and not somewhere in a weird "internet cloud" that's only reachable by a specific client (that's also needed for installation).

So - I guess I will wait until I pay about the same price on GOG to get that 60% off anyway. It will take a while, but in the mean time I can play the original if I want to, or just take another game out of my rich backlog. I have more than enough games to keep me busy for a very long, long time...

It's a pity that GOG connect will not be a valid option, because I wanted to give the developers some money to stimulate the further development of the game. However - Paying 60% more for a "GOG-option" is a bit over the top. I was really hoping that they would activate GOG connect, and I could happily buy the game. As it is, however, I sadly won't buy anything at all. Too bad.
