I installed patch 1.13 on GOG version of JA2 but when i try to launch a game i'm getting folowing error:

Line: 735
Location: InitializeStandardGamingPlatform
Initializing Virtual File System failed


anyone know what can be done to fix?

Looks this is issue with my particular Win-7-64 bit PC, on Win-7-32 it works fine

Not sure how much help this will be but for those using Windows 7(I am using W7x64) you have to install JA2 Gold(the GoG version) to a DIFFERENT location that the default(re: do NOT install to "Program Files"), then install 1.13(whichever version of 1.13 you are using) over that.
The reason being that with Windows 7's much better security(against viruses/trojans) a lot of older games are damned near impossible to install in "Program Files"(W7 seems to be heavily geared to protect that area of the HD and usually refuses to extract/install key files that it suspects could harbor trojans).
