Hello Hog Fans. I'm having a couple of issues. Everything in the start menu moves in slow motion. so I tried decided to just power through and started the game. I then noticed upon landing that the graphics on the left side of the pig was missing and continues as I rotate the hog.
I have changed and tried all the different screen size settings, gave it admin perms, changed compat to xp and 98 and still no luck. made sure only one core was running too, still nothing.

please help if you can as I love this PIG of a game and I'm hoping I've not wasted money.

cheers for any and all suggestions

also can't tab out and alt+tab crashes pc
The BEST WAY to play "The Hogs of War" is to play the Playstation version on Duckstation. Looks just as good (actually better) and plays at full-speed.
DuckStation indeed do an awesome job to make visual enhancement "on the fly" - you can switch them to see if settings do better or make some glitches?, just by pressing hotkey. For example Widescreen hack set to Ctrl+W and press it while playing. Do not require to restart. Second awesomness - usually there is no visual distortions. Upscaling and filters could do, though, but that will happen with too extra over-upscaling/filtering regardless of which emulator to use. UI and text cannot be upscaled without distortion. DuckStation work fast.

But comparing games itself - PC version are better. Visual and gameplay. They differ. PS1 version seems to be original has on alpha/beta dev stages a lot more details on maps. Release version omitted everything and reduce size/details of trees (only them remain on in general empty landmarks). PC version also simplified after beta PS1 but still has something PS1 have not - landmark objects. There is more differences in visuals (less textures on PS1 some weapons use the same while PC each weapon unique texture) and gameplay.

PC version superior in first campaign playthrough and Multiplayer without bots. PC lack of NewGame+ mode (it is just NewGame mode), and bots do not work properly in Skirmish mode or MP if PvPvE mode. First NewGame playthrough better on PC because actually PS1 AI is worse there. Moet of turns AI waste doing nothing or try to trow grenades across the whole map (unsuccessful ofc) or fire bazooka/mortar much over the map. PC version is like chess or checkers - each turn you do you keep in mind your chess will be eaten in opponent turn. AI do not miss in PC version, maybe a bit not perfect hit (esp with mortar) but hit anyway. PS1 version AI often miss waaay away of target (out of the map too).

Ideally it will be playing PC 1.1(1.2) version NewGame mode, find save file for PS1 PAL closer to end of NewGame and continue it to the NewGame+. Then play Skirmish against bot on PS1 and MP on PC.
I shared PS1 NTSC save for Tommy's Trotter's i still have a link if you need.

Emulation and PC compatibility cannot be used to compare two versions. You can solve compatibility and increase visuals further on PC with wrappers than emulator can do for PS1 version. Native 800x600 still higher than native 520x256 or whatever PAL version has (NTSC are lower res).
