Hello Hog Fans. I'm having a couple of issues. Everything in the start menu moves in slow motion. so I tried decided to just power through and started the game. I then noticed upon landing that the graphics on the left side of the pig was missing and continues as I rotate the hog.
I have changed and tried all the different screen size settings, gave it admin perms, changed compat to xp and 98 and still no luck. made sure only one core was running too, still nothing.

please help if you can as I love this PIG of a game and I'm hoping I've not wasted money.

cheers for any and all suggestions

also can't tab out and alt+tab crashes pc

Hi,

I have the same problem on my Notebook.

Windows 8.1 Pro 64-Bit
i7-3632QM
8GB RAM
HD4000 Graphics
Geforce GT 645M

Compatibility Mode doesn't change anything. Changing Graphicschip doesn't help either.
I have the same problem, and I have the same specs as OP.

I've tried messing around with different resolutions, v-sync options and compatability modes but nothing seems to work.

Same here, same specs (Win 8.1, AMD Radeon HD6770), seems like this is Windows 8 related problem. But then again, right there on the page it says that the game is XP, Vista and 7 compatible, ya know, no mention of Win 8 anywhere... so it is kinda our own fault we went for it anyway.

I like HOW so much that I just couldn't resist buying this gem, cuz I played it for hours on end back in the nineties on PS1, so dear GOG-ers, if you would be so awesome to resolve this for us Windows 8 miserable tortured souls, I'd be one happy happy happy gamer :) Pretty please?
Same Problem here. I have HD4000 graphics and an i3 processor and 4gigs of ram and also windows 8.1 64bit laptop.I getting my desktop back on thursday though so I wonder if it work on there.
Same here, also Win8 ...

Hey I got a reply from gog support team and they basicly said they can't help me. There nothing of which I can find on the internet that can fix this problem so I'm going to see if I can get a refund as unfortunately I do not have any none win 8 computers. Looks like I gonna have to dig out the PS1 :(

Win 8 isn't listed as a supported OS.
I put a ticket for hogs in asking if there was or would be any future fixes and this is the reply I got:

'There was a mistake on the product page and Hogs of War was incorrectly marked as compatible with Windows 8.
Sorry for the inconvenience."

and have been offered a refund or replacement. But as I'm sure that this won't be the only game I'm going to have this kind of problem with, I have decided to keep the game and install Multi-OS so I will have Win7 and Win8 on the one machine, coz this game is one of my all time favs and to me its will be worth the win7 OS cost in the long run.

Thanks all

In that case anyone who bought it then is eligible for a refund. Thanks for posting.

This is surely turning out to be a mild clusterfuck, and a beautiful case of "buyer beware". I wont ask for a refund, coz I can survive my 6 wasted dollars, but I'll certainly hold off all my future purchases until I scan the forums for possible problems and incompatibilities. I'm frustrated as hell for not being able to play this gem, but I'll live.
Loved the hell out of this game when I was younger. So excited to see it up on GOG. So disappointed to see that it doesn't work with Win 8.1, and even for the systems it does work on is completely gutted gameplay-wise (no AI movement.. what the heck??).
I had the same problem. You need to download an unofficial patch that will make it work like it should. I've posted how to do so earlier in the Hogs of war forums. Just look that post up and it should work.

There you go

Google : Hogs of War - Windows 10 Fix and download unofficial patch .

Description:

Hogs of War is notoriously hard to run property on modern PCs. Even the Steam/GOG.com versions don’t work in anything newer than Windows.

This mod fixes that. It adds compatibility with Windows 8 and Windows 10, fixes the graphics and sound issues and improves performance.

To install:

Extract to game’s folder. Run _inmm238.exe and let it install. Then launch the game with warhogs.exe set up in Windows 95 compatibility mode.
