dtgreene: Someone who is encountering this problem on Windows should send a support ticket.

Fonzer: I did send one just now.Does support tickets only reply through email?
Or will i get a message on gog.First time i sended one.
GOG Support answers users via e-mail.
So ummmm. Has there been any news on the matter? I certainly want to play the new game plus option and check the alt outfit which is unlocked by completing the game.

No news yet, wonder when they are gonna answer me. I think it usually takes 5 days for them to answer if not they could take longer.
All i got is:
Hello,

Unfortunately your graphics device is not supported in this game. The game requires DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics device, and Radeon 9200 is compatible up to DirectX 8.1. Because of this, this graphics device is not listed among the compatible ones on the product page. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Maybe you have access to a different PC that meets the system requirements and that you could use to play the game?

Seems i will need to use my uncles pc for me to play the game on there so i could test it, so maybe somebody who has better graphics than me can tell them that it still doesn't work at that spot in a support ticket.

And yes i did tell them that several people have this problem even with better systems.

I just sent a ticket. Considering I have DirectX 11 I could make a bigger difference. By working together in this we might eventually find a solution.
Ticket sent as I'm out of ideas.

Hector_Fahrenheit: Ticket sent as I'm out of ideas.
Don't get your hopes up.

Had the same issue myself and gave up a long time ago on getting a response from those responsible for porting the game's code to modern operating systems. I easily meet the system requirements running it in VMWare fusion on my 2011 macbook pro (can run it at full resolution with pretty high textures, effects, etc.). Crashes at exact same point everyone else in this thread mentions and spits out some directx error which identifies a direct 3D file as the culprit.

I then decided to test the game on an older Dell Laptop with a Geforce Go 6800 (which meets the shader 3.0 model requirements) and it spits out the exact same error at the same point in time that the game crashed on my Virtual Machine.

Then maybe I guessed that replacing the folder with the original Japanese dialog was what was causing the problem, so I shoved my save file into a brand new installation of the game and finished the last fight and let the end credits roll. Still ran into the same problem. Tried uninstalling the game on my Virtual Machine as well and did the same thing. Same result, except now the game screwed up my save file and believes I never bought one of the most expensive hair accessories that you can get in your first play through of the game.

Sent a ticket over to gog.com for this issue. No response. Sent an email to Mastiff Games on this issue. No response. Not too sure if I can request a refund for this game because a good majority of the content works and you can play the game to completion, with the new game + modes being just icing on the cake.

I'm not too sure if Mastiff Games just favored using Steam and shafted gog.com users since I checked their forum for this game and a lot of people posting there imply that they were able to successfully finish the credits and start a new game from there.

The whole debacle I've had with this game on gog.com has made me more wary of certain titles that appear in this store. For example, I've concluded to just buy Kerbal Space Program somewhere else even though this game's currently 40% off on this store since the opportunity cost of getting the game properly updated through this service far outweighs any cash I'll save in getting it at a discount compared to if I bought it on Steam (which I hate using) or directly from the developer's website (which is more expensive).

EDIT: Checked my email recently (I've been having crappy internet between the end of august and at the start of November) and I did get a reply from my ticket on this game back near the end of september. They said they couldn't replicate the problem properly and wrote off the ticket saying not to run it in OS X and use a computer running windows. I'd like to follow up on that by running the game in bootcamp, but my mac's been stuck in repair limbo for over a month as it gets its GPU replaced.

This is the response I got:

Hello,

Please follow these troubleshooting steps:
1) Please make sure that you use "Run as Administrator" to install and to start the game (right-click on the shortcut or setup file and select "Run as Administrator"). If you are using Galaxy, then make sure to run Galaxy as Administrator.

2) Please reinstall the game AND add it to your anti-virus/firewall software's exception/trusted list. Simply disabling firewall or AV software could not be enough, since some of these software are running still in background or in services list. If you are using Galaxy, then please add Galaxy as well.

3) Reinstall the June 2010 DirectX runtime package. You can find the archive file containing the 2010 package installation files here:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109

After that please download and install DirectX Web Installer:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=35&e6b34bbe-475b-1abd-2c51-b5034bcdd6d2

You will have to extract the files into some folder, then open that folder and launch the DXSETUP.exe file in order to proceed with the installation.

Please have in mind that this will only add DirectX 9.0c to available pool of DirectX libraries, and it will not overwrite your previous versions. Some games are not able to utilize newer DirectX libraries, and they require DirectX 9.0c.

4) Your DxDiag report indicates that you are using beta drivers. Please roll-back to latest stable drivers:
http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/GPU57RemoveOldGraphicsDrivers.aspx

And download latest stable drivers (please fill out the form):
http://support.amd.com/en-us/download

5) Maybe you have some settings forced on your graphics device in Catalyst Control Center. If so then try to reset them:
I) Right-click on your desktop and select Catalyst Control Center.
II) Click on the "Preferences".
III) From dropdown list select "Restore Factory Defaults" and accept it.

6) Please set a more standard refresh rate (60 Hz), to do this right-click an empty space on your desktop, select Screen resolution > Advanced settings, on the Monitor tab change the Screen refresh rate to 60 Hertz.

I won't hold my breath but I'll post any results.

Well, if I'm lucky I can download this sometime during the middle of this week. Otherwise I'll have to wait until the weekend when I have enough free time to download it when I have access to good bandwidth.

I'm pretty sure that the 2010 DirectX drivers might solve that D3d dll issue so I'll give that a shot on my inspiron since I still can use that.

Yeah, I got the same response. The Direct x thing refuses to install because apparently the files are already installed. Second, the part of re installing did not work. I guess it is something in the port.
I just asked on steam if the person who told me that this game works with a similar graphic card that only supports directx 8.1 if he could beat the game. And the answer was yes he beated the game without problems and crashing so i assume there is something wrong with the gog version of the game but not steam version of the game.
The reason why i bought it is because he said it works, but i decided to buy it on gog due to the whole drm free thing.
The person didn't crash when the logo should have appeared in the ending credits.

And did anyone here solve the problem already?
I kinda think not.

That means we will have to wait for an update to fix that.
Finally got my Macbook Pro from the repair shop, so here's a documented video showcasing how the game crashes:

youtu.be/dsQOTSb8cv4

SUMMARY OF VIDEO LINK:
- Displays which version of Windows 7 I'm using
- Displays which version of VMWare Fusion I'm using
- Showcase basic Dxdiag tab info
- Start game (hey, didn't know that they had a new year's easter egg for the falcom logo!)
- Load Game
- Accelerate playback speed for about 2 minutes because you're not going to sit through over 20 minutes of the game working
- Resume playback at normal speed around 20 seconds before the game crashes
- Install the directX 2010 update that was mentioned in an earlier post in this thread
- Showcase what Macbook Pro model I'm using to run this Virtual Machine
- Start game and accelerate playback until we hit the same spot where the game crashes to see if anything's changed (SPOILER: nothing has; actually it's a little bit worse)

I'm doing this recording through the same virtual machine I've used to finish the game with. I'm sure all of you guys here run into exactly the same problem using real PC hardware. I'm going to install the game and run the directX update in bootcamp (i.e.- Apple's way of saying to install Windows on a separate partition of the mac's hard drive) to see if the results are the same, but I'm pretty sure they're going to be.

If anyone else can already confirm that the update doesn't do jack squat on a Windows installation with real PC hardware, that'd help me a lot.

I'm also really annoyed that I have to resort to this kind of documentation just to get the point across to the gog folks here.

I believe there is also a special costume you can get by playing the game on the first few days of the new year.
Tested it out on my uncles pc and it still crashes at the same spot.Don't know if even need to download any drivers for graphic card on windows 10 since it automaticly did that i think.

The graphic card is 9600gt nvidia. And i am on windows 10
Also the game is patched to the newest version on here and is it normal that the ed avi file under 3ddata is rather short while ingame it's longer.
