Can ALT/Tab become an option? Haven't had a chance to look deeper at this...

Game looks fantastic!
Ugh... well, maybe two years of hammering it out and player feed back made the game better than it was?

Undoubtedly.

Glad it got here eventually, it does have over 1k votes on the wishlist. I hope it sells at least okay.

Here are some title of the reviews:
"the true sequel of Wizardry 7"
no
"One of the best RPGs I ever played"
you've have play a lot then
"Ignore the haters"
that a stawman plus they have god points
"Bigger and better than Wizardry 7"
no
"Its friday my dudes"
hype
"One of the best dungeon crawers ever"
no
"ITZ coming"
hype
"The perfect cave painting"
nonsense
"Complex throwback RPG with great depth"
justifing the cost of time put it
"Great game"
doesn't tell me much
on and on until we hit the bottom:
"Below average dungeon crawl: It took one man 20 years to push this turd out his ***"
That's name calling and not helpful at all.

What was the point of this post? They were unhelpful and didn't change my mind. Though, I will give the dev his due for putting work over 22 years and getting this out. Ignoring all the drama created by him and others, if I want to get to know the art, I'll watch a let's play that came out youtube and make my mind up there. Let is be said I won't give the devil, god or in this case the dev his due.

Yes, indeed I've played a lot of RPGs from the early 90ies up to today, almost everything from that genre and so I can clearly state that there were not many games that were able to capture me as much as Grimoire did. And that there simply isn't another game with a similar scope, style and atmosphere for me.

I remember joking with Cleve many years ago on one of the newsgroups that if Grimoire weren't out before my son was born, I'd just play it with him when he was old enough.

My son is 22 years old now.

It is hard to believe that I've followed it this long. It is harder to believe that the game is, if accounts are to be believed, in a done-enough state to be considered playable, possibly even *good*. I've installed it but I'm afraid to open it up, like a Christmas present you never expected and are half afraid it's just a hoax because it cannot possibly be real.

lol, no they don't. A good bunch of them are the equivalent of a borderline-illiterate writing "Dis gaemz suckz!" and a lot of the points they make are downright farcical.

Let's go through the more critical reviews one by one, shall we?

windows984ever - Doesn't say anything about the game

abc.d - Doesn't say anything about the game. Calls the dev a liar. Still gives it 2 stars instead of one. Ok...?

jalehven - "Potentially good?" - One star! Whut?!?

blightor - "its like taking a game from the late 80's or early 90's, and barely making it work on modern computers." - So it does exactly what it set out to do. One star.

helldraco - At least went through the effort of actually buying the game before leaving a review (whether he played it is up for you to decide). Guess the game wasn't for him. That's ok, can't please everyone.

skdursh - lol, Codex meme review

Dgaart - Agitprop. Gloats about Cleve not being able to remove this "review" (which I think should be more than enough reason for gog to take it down).

sanscript - Has a huge bug up his ass about this game. Check out the Grimoire thread in GD.

Gremour - Seems legit

silentsigil - Game sucks, but he might "have to do a fourth playthrough to see if this version is finally worth the 60 hours a full exploration takes". LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!!!!!!!

groze - Says nothing about the game, plus groze is arguably the biggest retard on this forum (and he's up against some tough competition, mind you!). Just about every forum post he leaves and every review he writes revolve around his massive inferiority complex over RPGs and the people who enjoy them (he considers them gatekeeping elitist nerds - check here for a prime example of one of his brain-scorchingly moronic tl;dr rants). That guy is certifiable. You can bet your ass he NEVER played the game, and NEVER did he have any intention to do so. Neither did he have the balls to just shitpost in the release thread like every other self-respecting human being, so he just review bombed the game instead. What a hero!

GregT_314 - "If you need a review, it's not for you" - I agree. Hell, this might even get a "helpful" vote from me.

Varbeast - Vhat?!? Ich am guessen der inkleinen vas too much for him to handle. Didn't like the game, I suppose. Maybe he has some valid points, but I'm not gonna bother to google translate to find out. ;P

Yann_Darko - Legit, I presume. I guess the point he's making is that the game is too slow paced for him and he might die of old age before finishing it. Just hold down Enter, you old fart!

The guy seems to prefer real-time fighting over turn-based fighting (mentions Dungeon Master+Clones and Grimrock as positive examples). And doesn't seem to understand how fighting in Grimoire works, how attributes and skills influence actions. It's understandable that you can't be satisfied when you don't know what you're doing, especially in a game like Grimoire.
Yes and to use your words: "A good bunch of them are the equivalent of a borderline-illiterate writing" dot dot dot also applies to all "This is the greatest game ever!" Which tell me nothing. Doesn't answer why it is.

I could BS a better reason why to play this game and only watched let's plays:

It is because you have all these char choices and builds.
Different starting areas and different endings.
Challenges that will test your skills and sanity.

Honestly, think I just sold myself on this game.

I don't think or see any evidence of the dev being "evil". Bring this up because that's what I recall two years ago and what see in the neg' reviews. See him being an asshole. Don't care. Welcome to the internet fokes!

See him also putting all this work in, mostly by himself and then working on it afterwards for 2 years. That impresses me. He could have given up and fold under. He didn't. Not that I can see.

Do I like this dev? No, I don't know him outside of his persona. How can I? Besides, yoo old, too tired and have little time left to shit on someone for failures and being an asshole because: because everyone fails. He failed a lot but got off his old ass and kept on going. That's how you do life. Well... one way that doesn't make you look like a chump.
Oh, look! Another edgy meme review by a disgruntled Codexer! This time by this guy. Don't know about the rest of you, but I call bullshit on this "review".
