Michael Rüve directer(or whatever Geschäftsführer is called in english) of Piranha Bytes told us that he actually entitled GOG to distribute the localizations. Now i'm curious. Why is Gothic 1 still only available in english?

source(german)
Now i'm curious, too. Thanks for the information.
I've written to support confronting them with those news. Let's see what they say...

Did you get any response on that matter? I would have bought both Gothic 1 and 2 a long time ago on GOG, but playing them in english instead of the original german versions would feel strange. As they are on sale this weekend i'm tempted again, but it would be nice if you got any news of a german version coming soon.
Same for me - I played them in polish so playing it in another language wouldnt cut it.

AND, in fact, CD PROJEKT released them in Poland - yes, the same company that owns gog.com

Now thats strange, isnt it?
Yep, that adds another level of weirdness. ;-)
At first I got the standard replay:

"I'm afraid that our current deals with publishers usually only allow us to release those language versions which are currently available. We do our best to get localized versions whenever possible, but it's not always easy. Whenever possible, we add additional language versions to current releases as well."

To which I replied with the information Michael Rüve gave on the wop-forums.

"We are currently investigating this issue."

And yesterday evening, finally:

"We are currently working on adding those German versions, however I am not able to predict when will they be ready."

YESSSSS!!! :D good old GOG! <3
Nice! Thanks for keeping at it. The sale is over, though. But what the hell, Gothic is worth it regardless. I will get both 1 and 2 once the german versions have been added. Never tried 3 and won't do it now, i'm too scared. ;-)
Thats the attitude! ;) But why not the third one? I for one am fan of the series up to the third game. I've never tried the addon and the fourth game because they where produced by another studios, but for Gothic III, it's the last Gothic game by the original developers. I would recommend it to you^^

Oh yes, we just NEED a german version of Gothic I on GOG.com!
I just wonder if they are "working on it" or actually working on it...
Ok, it's promo time again. This time i caved and went shopping. I hope by the time i get around to play these fine games the german version finds it way to gog.

Hey, would you look at that, guess what games had an update today. ;)
Update as in new languages? For which of the Gothic games?
Wow, you're right. When i bought them they were still english only, but now all three games are listed as english / german. That was quick. ;-)

All four of the Gothic games on GOG now have German installers. To download the German installers simply go to the My Games page and choose German from the game's language box.
