The links given in the sticky Gothic 1 and 2 patch guides of this forum are outdated and/or broken.

Has anyone got working links to (the worldofplayers site links to yandex download pages which don't work) :

- systempack-1.7 (the only version of systempack i can find, the older versions mentioned in the sticky are no longer hosted)

and its required files:

- gothic1-1.08k-patch.exe (perhaps not needed for gog version)
- Gothic1_PlayerKit-2.8.exe
(i managed to find Gothic1_PlayerKit-1.08k.exe, which is also needed)

- gothic2_fix-1.30.0.0.exe
- Gothic2_PlayerKit-2.8.exe
(i managed to find gothic2_fix-2.6.0.0-rev2.exe, which is also needed)

I'd love to finally play these much praised games if anyone can help me out.

You can find the original thread for the SystemPack here. The developers of the pack are Russian, so that may explain why they chose to upload the files to Yandex. You will find any updates and new versions in this thread.
Here is the direct link to the files on Yandex from the thread, which works for me. It appears a bit convoluted, but the files are legit.

Otherwise your first go-to should be the German community hub: worldofgothic.de. Since the games were developed by a German studio and their original language is German as well, a big community emerged in Germany at the time, which is still alive today. Most modifications are actually by German fans and players, as are most tools.

Here are the links to other relevant files on that site:
PlayerKit 1.08k for Gothic: https://www.worldofgothic.de/dl/download_34.htm
gothic2_fix-1.30.0.0.exe (for Gothic II Classic) and gothic2_fix-2.6.0.0-rev2.exe (for Gothic II - Night of the Raven): https://www.worldofgothic.de/dl/download_278.htm

The 1.08k patch for Gothic is not required, since the GOG version is indeed already patched to that version, as should be almost all versions of the game out there.
The PlayerKit 2.8 (for both games) can be found on the Yandex site with the SystemPack files, and nowhere else, as far as I can see. I'm not sure how it differentiates from the PlayerKit 1.08k for Gothic and the installation information in the thread seems to indicate that either one of them is okay, instead of both being necessary.
Updated the links in my post in the sticky, you can find it here. It has been quite a while since I played G1-2, but the G3 instructions are up to speed as I just started a playthrough. If you want me to change or add anything on top of that, just give me a shout.
i appreciate the help and the advice.
as i'm unable to direct download any files from yandex, i presume i need to create an account and possibly download the client in order to first 'save to yandex disk' then direct download them from there? convoluted, indeed.
but it will be worth it if i can get this game running well.
Why would you be unable to simply download them directly?
I can just click on the Download icon next to "Save to Yandex.Desk".
none of the download links on yandex work for me. i can click, the button greys out but nothing happens.
i've tried different browsers and turning off antivirus (the terror!). so i just assumed the service was members only.
perhaps my IP or the government are screening yandex downloads here in france.

got any ideas?

otherwise, any samaritans feel like uploading the G1, G2 and NoTR systempacks and the G1 and G2 playerkits to wetransfer or the like and sending me the download link? (providing that a temporary upload isn't considered hosting without permission)

EDIT managed to sort it out. it was worth it!

Glad you got it sorted :) Could you kindly mark the post with the direct links as the solution to close this thread out? :D Thanks.
