See I'm not the only one, this was a nightmare. I played for around four hours before dying.
The game cuts to the intro and starts again, so I thought it might be a rare bug, then it didn't even save on leaving.

My hours long save I died on was erased by the restart..

Kind of just made me P***d off with the game.

This could have been fixed years ago.

Have you sent a ticket to gog's support to talk about this ?

I just send an email to the dev, to say the issue is still here.

A player just emailed me explaining the issue and sent me the link to this thread.
I have fixed the issue (a missing "save" folder in the project removed by the system for being empty).

My apologies for not having fixed this before and the inconveniences that this issue has caused.

Thank you! I was the one who emailed you, since you had not read this thread.

By the way, GOG only shows me the download the previous version (1.1.8B3, not 1.1.8B4). I have tried this from different browsers. I'm not sure if this happens to anyone else. Will GOG not update the download version if you had bought the game before?

I just took a look and offline installer seems to be at the correct version : "setup_ghost_1.0_1.1.8b4_(72424).exe".
Maybe when you tried it wasn't updated but has been since :)
