A good update (not)! Now GOG Galaxy 2.0 has stopped running on Windows 7. :-(

Can anyone else confirm this? I'll outright turn updates off if this is true because I love Galaxy but I'm not touching Windows 10.

Yes. Here - https://www.gog.com/forum/general_beta_gog_galaxy_2.0/help_sneaky_update_has_put_a_stop_to_my_gaming/page1 - is the same problem with Windows 7.
I don't think that was the intended outcome so much as random (untested) changes sometimes break stuff

as pointed out already Windows 7 isn't a supported OS

Thanks for the info.

That doesn't matter. Up until now, Galaxy 2.0 worked no problem on 7. It's bad enough that I can't play Cyberpunk through Galaxy anymore because of this. Last thing I want to deal with is to lose access to all of the features of Galaxy because GOG chose to literally make it impossible for 7 users to enjoy this awesome client...
Any chance you'll also fix PSN integration that the last GOG Galaxy 2.0 update broke?

SmollestLight: If it doesn't update you can force-update the app by using the installer from gog.com/galaxy.

Let us know if it worked :)
So, I decided to install 2.0.40.1 manually...

It doesn't work on Windows 7 as mentioned, but it also doesn't work on my Windows 10 laptop. There isn't even an error message, it just won't start.

Maybe some kind of "redist" is missing? Could you please provide me with a complete list of third-party software required for GOG Galaxy to function properly (vcredist, etc.)?

I noticed that Galaxy services are not installed. GalaxyClientService and GalaxyCommunication.
So, I rolled back to 2.0.37 (luckily I had an offline installer) until the GOG team sheds some light on what's going on.
So... Any news on when the fix will come out?

According to recent posts here, the client refuses to run not only on "unsupported" Windows, but also on Windows 8 / 8.1, which is still supported.

Windows 8 and 8.1 are both finished so I assume you think they are still supported by Gog [not Microsoft]

Yep:

GOG GALAXY 2.0 Open Beta requires Windows 8 or newer.
Available also on Mac OS X.
And according to some users here, the latest version of GOG Galaxy doesn't work on Windows 8 / 8.1.

Unfortunately, I can't answer this question, please reach out to our GOG GALAXY team directly so they can investigate the issue.
