Since updating manually as the workaround suggested. Being hounded for 2yrs will force you to update, GoG Galaxy will not run on my Win11 machine.

I have since installed a fresh Copy of windows, and still no joy. Yes, I am aware I can still run my games, thank you though. Below is the an excerpt from a fresh install of GoG Galaxy:

I have added the client to the firewall on the outbound and inbound allowed, ran as Admin, nothing will allow it to run. Any help during this extremely frustrating time will be greatly appreciated.

Side NB: I have also tested other Beta versions, and I cannot get the app to work. Looking at the forums, I am not the only one having issues, which I'm saddened by, yet also relieved as it appears 'I'm not doing it wrong ;p '

my gog galaxy at least launches but after 10 seconds dumps a CONNECTION TO COMMUNICATION SERVICE WAS LOST AND COULD NOT BE RESTORED GOG GALAXY WILL NOW SHUTDOWN error and closes

tried reinstalling version on website but still doesn't work

Morning and thank you... sort of.

First off, install works. I had to run as Admin on first install to allow the 'Application' to the firewall allow list. I can now log in which is a good start.

However, now upon login, within 5secs of it connecting, the Application closes as it 'Lost connection to the Communications Server'.

Read through the Connection to Communication Service was lost.... Some things people said resolved the problem for them:
• Repeating steps 3 and 4 in my above post.
• New firewall rule for %ProgramData%\GOG.com\Galaxy\redists\GalaxyCommunication.exe
• Logging into a Windows administrator account and performing the installation there.
• Setting the GalaxyCommunication service startup type to Automatic (Manual is the default).
• VPN exception (split tunneling) for the GalaxyCommunication service.

I have since rebooted, and upon startup the app seems to be stable. I couldn't add any other 'GoG' services to the firewall, however i noted in task manager more of the GoG services are running. Seems there are still a few bugs to be worked out in the App.

Steps taken (after app removed when not working:

1. Install both vc_redist.x86.exe and vc_redist.x64.exe
2. Run the full installer setup_galaxy_2.0.60.2.exe - Right Click, Runs as Administrator
3. Restart your system
4. Open GoG Galaxy
5. Be Amazed it works

EDIT: i tell a lie. I restarted the app as some of the 'Connections' weren't working. The previous error is showing again.

EDIT 2: When the PC/System is restarted, GoG Galaxy runs as normal. Exit GoG G, and start it, it fails.

If none of the above helps, open a support ticket, if you haven't already. While GOG Galaxy isn't running, zip up the %ProgramData%\GOG.com\Galaxy\logs folder and attach it to your ticket. You'll need to use the link to the ticket on the site; you can't give the chatbot your file. If the confirmation e-mail says you can reply with additional information, that would also work.

I have added the client to the firewall on the outbound and inbound allowed, ran as Admin, nothing will allow it to run. Any help during this extremely frustrating time will be greatly appreciated.

Side NB: I have also tested other Beta versions, and I cannot get the app to work. Looking at the forums, I am not the only one having issues, which I'm saddened by, yet also relieved as it appears 'I'm not doing it wrong ;p '

I have a response from Support, they need the logs. My issue is now not showing ... figures. I'm still using the beta version and installed windowsdesktop-runtime-6.0. I don't know if that sorted it, however it is not crashing on closing and opening the App anymore.

As soon as I know more, i'll post it here.
I know it's been quite some time but did you get any respond? I too cannot use Galaxy on Windows 11. After pressing start, nothing would happen at all. Sure, I can still play my games offline, the whole reason for buying them in the fist place, but I got used to cloud saves and the connected libraries.
Is there a specific game you're having trouble with? I installed No Man's Sky on an almost freshly installed Windows 11 and it seems to be working just fine. Going to try Witcher 3 next.


edit: Witcher 3 launched fine. I'm not sure what else to test.

Actually, no. It is not even related to a game as I install Galaxy and it won't even launch. Guess I'm trying to use it one more time but hopes aren't high tbh.
