so I've been playing MOO2, thank you GOG!.. and realized my other favorite game of my youth may be on here.. sadly I searched an did not see it..

Just wondering if I can generate some interest in porting X-Com: UFO Defense to GOG... ?

Hi!
You can vote for it here.
Yes.
It's available most other DD outlets DRM-free. So even though GOG doesn't have it yet there's no reason not to grab it. Personally I'd recommend Gamersgate.
If you don't mind Steam (or love it like I do), they sometimes have it on sale for about $2-3 for the entire pack. Look for it in the upcoming holiday sale.

Navagon: Personally I'd recommend Gamersgate.
Seconded. As DRM-free as it gets.

To be fair, it's the same on Steam. You don't need the client to run it (if you make your own shortcuts). But I'd recommend GG over Steam for their exponentially superior customer service.

I'm so glad I'm not the only person who loves Steam. I've been meaning to pick it up but, well, money is hard to come by.
I'd also recommend looking at the following:

Xenonauts - X-com like game, currently in development. Cold War setting.

UFO: The Two Sides - essentially a newer bigger badder X-Com, with multiplayer and also you can play multi and single player as the aliens!

OpenXcom - open source version of X-Com.

I've done a little beta-testing for UFO:TTS, and while the multi and alien stuff isn't quite finished, the normal single-player is almost complete. Some lovely additions and changes from the original.
UFO : Alien Invasion is also worth taking a look at.
If anyone is interested in something else similar to X-Com, you might like to try UFO: Aftermath and its sequels Aftershock and Afterlight.
I got the entire X-Com collection from Steam for $10.
I'm also anxiously waiting for GOG to release the X-Com series...
