I'm just curious what it means if a game has been "updated"? Does this mean:

- Actual game, being older, has a patch that was out for awhile, but wasn't compatible with DOSBOX/However GOG packages their games and they addressed it and applied the patch to their installer?
- New Bonus Content is available?
- The installer/emulation is updated so the game will work to work better with certain Operating Systems/Hardware?
- This particular game on GOG is still receiving support from the developers, and there is a new patch for it that is put in the installer?

I'm not sure what GOG focuses on with their games once it's been released on the site. And, if it's an "all of the above," how do you tell what's actually been changed?

Sorry if this has been discussed before, but I couldn't find it.

Thanks!

Sometimes, even old games get patched up a bit. But it's tricky to be specific, as gog doesn't do changelogs. At least not to my knowledge.

Some sort of extra feedback from the team would be really nice.
Yes, any of those can trigger the "updated" flag (unless the GOG team specifically tells it not to do so, like they did when they updated a lot of the installers to 2.0 a few months ago - there was no change to the game, just the installer, so they likely thought it unnecessary to spam everyone with update notifications).

Agreed +1
There's usually some stickies on the game specific sub-forums about it but IMO they're usually pretty vague.
Thanks guys. I'm obsessive with backing up in case of lost Internet Connection or going somewhere without Internet. I've got dozens of GOG games, and plan to download and store them on drives of mine, but I'm trying to figure out a way to track updates and if I really need them or not. I guess I'll just make sure I do a weekly check and write down which games have updates so I can then redownload them at some point later on.
