Get Spelunky, Dust: An Elysian Tail, Psychonauts, plus 20 more pesky platformers up to 75% off! Grab The Witcher 1&2--80% off as well!

The art of jumping around has changed a lot throughout the years. Every now and then a game emerges and adds another twist to the proven and satisfying formula: time-warp, hidden dimensions, roguelike elements, RPG-inspired character development… that's just the tip of the iceberg! This week, we want you to [url=http://www.gog.com/promo/platformers_aplenty_weekend_promo_150814]JUMP AROUND (jump up, jump up, and get down) for up to 75% off!

Those of you who don't like to mince words and prefer a more minimalist style of visual storytelling are sure to fall in love with Teslagrad, a steampunkish side-scrolling adventure with electromagnetic mechanics, mesmerizing soundtrack, and complex puzzles. If you're a Nicola Tesla buff pick it up for only $3.99! It's $3.99 as well for Unepic, an RPG-like rogulike that will bring out your inner Munchkin. With a massive amount of loot to collect in the deep deep dungeons and plenty of tongue-in-cheek humor the game is a love letter to pen-and-paper role-playing and nerdom. If on the other hand you're a fan of the old-old-school and hard-as-nails challenges you simply have to bow down to the 16-bit gods of the Arcade'ian Golden Age and pick up Volgarr the Viking for only $3.99. The game is a fantastic tribute to all the demanding arcade titles of the 80s and 90s, with precise controls, retro graphics, and fountains of blood gushing from enemy corpses.

Check out the promo page, to see the entire selection of those pesky platformers! The promo lasts until Tuesday, August 19, at 3:59AM GMT. Everybody JUMP!

If platforming is not really your thing and you'd much rather refrain from jumping while slaying monsters, solving quests, and getting yourself in all sorts of trouble with the ladies, do check out our franchise promo for The Witcher: Enhanced Edition and The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. The award-winning RPG titles, featuring the rugged monster hunter Geralt of Rivia--one of the most enthralling characters of modern gaming, are both available 80% off, and are sure to make the wait for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt a little bit easier on you. Pick up the first two games of the series for only $5.98 until Tuesday, August 19, at 3:59AM GMT!

gandalf.nho: Humm, I like platformers, but I already have the old ones from this list and is difficult to find modern ones interesting to me because for some reason almost all indie platformers follow the nintendo hard school...

How's Dust: An Elysian Tail difficulty?
It's not Nintendo Hard :) It's more of a metroidvania than a pure platformer, imho :)

VampiroAlhazred: Great promo!!! But it's so hard when you have to choose...
I'm sure I'm going to buy Rise of the Owlverlord because I enjoyed the first Giana Sisters' game. But then.... Völgarr the Viking, Psychonauts, or Dust: An Elysian Tail? Which one should I get?
Depends on what you are looking for in a platformer :)

edit: I played all three (Dust, Volgarr, and Psychonauts) so feel free to ask me about them :)

VampiroAlhazred: Well... I'm not looking for something specific, these games interest me for different reasons, and I enjoy diversity, that's why it's difficult for me to choose... I heard Völgarr the Viking offers a good challenge, so I'd like to test myself against it, and I really like the art in Dust, but I don't know much about Psychonauts, except that it is HIGHLY recommended, why is it considered one of the best platformer games?
What did you enjoy the most about them? Thanks, Judas! =)
Volgarr is your classic Nintendo Hard platformer which also offers a much more difficult path through the game called Path of the Valkyrie. I enjoyed the theme and the tight controls although I highly recommend playing it with a controller. Also, you get to play a lone Viking on a personal quest from Odin himself :D

Dust, on the other hand, is all about combo attacks and the platforming is minimal as you won't have to worry about split second timing like you would with Volgarr. There is a lone-stranger-comes-to-town-and-solves-problems story to be had and it's quite decent. The combat is quite fun and easy to master.

Psychonauts is one of Tim Schafer's best works, imho. I actually enjoyed the story and the fact that you actually went into people's minds to try and fix problems. I don't think it's the platforming that makes Psychonauts unique but because Tim Schafer and his team were behind the game :)

Let me know if any of that helped :)

haydenaurion: Any thoughts on Windforge? I know it was kind of a buggy mess when it was released, but now that it's had numerous patches, is it a game worth my time that'll have enough variety to keep me playing?

undeadcow: I've also been curious about Windforge but have stayed away given the disasterious bugs on launch.
The game has had quite a few patches already and it's in a much better state now :)

edit: I invite you to peruse the Windforge subforum to see for yourself :)
