Top games that don’t wear off quickly.

Today, 11 games from [url=http://www.gog.com/en/catalogue#all_genres/publisher/TopWare%20Interactive/]TopWare have their prices reduced by 50%. This also comes with another cool piece of news about a Topware game in our catalog: Earth 2140, the first part of a well-know strategy series, now comes with a special bonus content: a DOSBox version of the game with a more robust AI. If you like strategies, you’ll surely grab Earth 2150 and Earth 2160 to complete the set. Each of these RTSes is only $2.99.

Two Worlds: Epic Edition is an action RPG, which, as you’ve probably guessed, is epic. Action fantasy in a vast world with impressive visuals and advanced character development. The game includes two expansions: Tainted Blood and Curse of Souls and offers both almost complete freedom so many cRPGs miss nowadays and a loooooong game time for only $4.99.

Septerra Core is another RPG, but in a completely different setting -- Japanese RPG mixed with steampunk. Fascinating world design, wide cast of characters, and huge 100+ hours of gameplay only partly describe Septerra Core: Legacy of the Creator, which is only $2.99.

If you’d prefer some well-paced adventure, get Enclave, that offers simple hack-and-slash entertainment with a parade of diverse of environments from dark labyrinths, through town rooftops, to hellish wasteland. Enclave is pure action fun for only $2.99 on GOG.com.

That’s not all, because you can get Knights and Merchants, Dream Pinball 3D, Gorky 17, Jack Orlando: A Cinematic Adventure or Jagged Alliance 2: Wildfire, all for $2.99 each, only this weekend on GOG.com.

Visit the promo page to check all TopWare games that are 50% off this weekend on GOG.com.

Yes.
YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAA Finally DOS 2140!!!!

GOG FINALLY DELIVERED THE GOODS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Say, thanks for the DOS version of Earth 2040, it's great. :D

This is a pretty decent sale, but I have all of them save for Jack Orlando, which I might get sometime for a better discount than 50%. Aside from the Gem Promos, we haven't had any >50% sales in a few months now. I've already bought just about everything I'm willing to buy for 50% or less, but one of these days I'm going to get the Space Quest and King's Quest games, among other things.

As for this sale, I can personally recommend just about any of them. The whole Earth 21X0 series is pretty good. Nothing amazing, but I like it quite a bit. 2140 and 2150 both include soundtracks. Two Worlds is a game I found myself enjoying a great deal, but it's probably not for everyone. With so many other high profile RPGs on GOG, it's harder to recommend, but if you think it looks like something you might like, by all means get it.

Septerra Core is another underrated RPG, and yes, most of those 100+ hours will be spent with a less-than-perfect battle system, but it helps fill that JRPG void on GOG, and for $3 it's a pretty amazing game if you're into this sort of thing like I am. I'd probably recommend this over Two Worlds, myself. It's certainly more memorable, anyway.

I can't really be bothered to go in-depth with the rest of them. Suffice it to say that I also enjoyed Enclave as well as Knights and Merchants. Wildfire isn't the best part of the Jagged Alliance series, but you might want to check it out. I haven't gotten to playing Gorky 17 yet, and people often complain about technical problems, so I can't say much about that, only that I thought it looked interesting enough to buy. I've never played Jack Orlando, haven't heard much good about it, and it doesn't look interesting enough to me that I've wanted to invest $3 into it when I could put that towards half of some other GOGs. I know it's cheaper than dirt cheap, but there's a little something called opportunity cost, so I'll wait until I'm more interested or it's even cheaper. :P

I mostly wanted to post here to warn people about Dream Pinball 3D. If you've played it before and you liked it, then by all means, don't let me impede you. It's as good as it ever was, which is to say... you could combine all of the tables together and it wouldn't hold a candle to any of the Pro Pinball tables. I'd even dare to say it compares about as favorably as any of the Pinball Gold Pack tables. I found Dream Pinball 3D to be considerably uglier than the Pro Pinball and Pinball Gold Pack games, and much sloppier too. While the Pinball Gold Pack games are older, they still have the sort of nice DOS-era graphics, sound, and gameplay you'd expect. Meanwhile, Pro Pinball is on the opposite spectrum of video pinball, fiercely dedicated to quality over quantity, with full-fledged simulations each focused on their own meticulously designed tables. Both are great in their own right, but I feel I should warn you that Dream Pinball 3D probably isn't worth your time or money.

There's enough pinball on GOG for just about any pinball loving diehard, whether you want a bunch of well designed old-school video pinball tables, or a choice between three highly detailed pinball simulations that will each captivate you for at least as long as you've ever been interested in any game of pinball. It's doubtful you'll ever need a new pinball fix enough to ever bother with Dream Pinball 3D. I haven't played Pure Pinball 2 Redux, so I can't really say anything regarding that, but from the looks of it, I doubt it compares too favorably to the other entries. The tables in Dream Pinball 3D are boring. Not Space Cadet 3D boring, but they're just about there. Without going in-depth, I guess I'll just say that I found the whole thing a little soulless. Pay twice as much for one table you'll actually enjoy, and if you must, at least wait until Dream Pinball 3D is on offer for something better than 50% before you indulge your curiosity.

In fact, there are demos for both the Pro Pinball trilogy and Dream Pinball 3D, so you don't really need to take my word for it. Decide for yourself, but at least try Dream Pinball 3D before you buy it. The screenshots don't really do my points justice. It's really not as good as it looks. :/

Hard to say. It's a game that I really tried to like and always defended when people claimed that it's crap but honestly, after having tried to beat the whole thing I've got to say that it's extremely trashy. Looks great but gameplay- and content-wise it cannot compete with the Gothic or the Elder Scrolls series at all.

Just started playing it. Combat is slightly trippy, but it's rather fun and the splattering blood looks amusing and a little bit cartoonish, but I think it's cool that way.

Got one shotted by a bear in the very beginning, but stuff like that doesn't bother me, I'll get the bitch when I level up.

Though, the voice acting and writing... bloody hell. You know, the other people I've encountered so far aren't SO bad, but the main character - he's the pinnacle of stupid lines and awkward execution.

Thoughts / Verdict on Enclave?

I haven't played it much but it seems worth $5 so far.
If you buy Gorky 17 and you don't have an ATI card you may have issues with this game. I purchased this game back during the holiday sale and am still unable to play it. I noticed someone picked it up during this recent promo and is having probs with it. Read the Gorky 17 forum before buying or you may be disappoint.

Fun gameplay. Recommended.
Thank you GOG for listening to your fans and customers in your forums and emails. You brought the original challenging DOS version of Earth 2140 which we greatly appreciate!

My work here is done.
Was thinking about Two worlds or Earth 2160... but opinions are too much divided on this 2... I don't know... recomendations?
Earth 2140. Most similar to C&C - I think that's enough of recommending ;-)
