Feel free to lambast me with insults and lock/delete the thread if this has already been posted, because surely it has but I can't be arsed to find it. So without further ado... my broken, pitiful list (sorry, I don't play many games so I couldn't make 10)...

1. Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup - I put more hours into this game than any other in my life I'm sure. I finally beat it a couple of months ago with a vampire necromancer, spoiler free.

2. Super Street Fighter IV - Probably my favorite game of alltime, been a Street Fighter junkie since World Warrior.

3. Master of Orion 2 - I can see myself playing this game for years to come... thanks GOG!

4. Skyrim - I'd rank this lower, as honestly there's something that irks me about the gameplay and shallow quests, but there are a few other games that I've yet to really get into that would surely rank higher. I reached level 34 and sorta got bored and haven't touched it in about a week.

5. Darklands - I absolutely love the atmosphere of this game, but goddamn is it slow paced. Annoyingly so. Plus the "random" encounters get more than a little tedious.

6. Ultima VII - I dabbled with this a few years ago, but the damn game wouldn't run right on my computer. Now it seems to run much better, and I'm ready to roll up my sleeves and dive in.

7. Alpha Centauri - Spent about 10 hours yesterday trying it out and I'm very impressed so far, but there's so much to digest! Still need to give it some more time, but I can see it ranking higher if I knew what I was doing.

8. ???

9. ???

10. ???
1. TES V: Skyrim

2. Portal 2

3. The Witcher 2

4. Uncharted 3

5. Deus Ex: Human Revolution

6. Batman: Arkham City

7. Assassin's Creed: Revelations

8. inFamous 2

9. Mortal Kombat

10. Dragon Age 2
1. Trails in the Sky
2. Killer 7
3. Skyrim
4. Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together
5. Flower, Sun, and Rain
6. Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective
7. Shadow Hearts
8. Ghost Recon
9. Dark Souls
10. Ys Seven
I haven't really played a good game from 2011 yet...
The Witcher 2 was OK I guess.

And darknath... Dragon Age II was an insult to the gaming community. How dare you list it?! :p

in my opinion the gaming community is throwing a hissy fit and blowing this way out of proportion..

the game wasn't amazing, and not nearly as good as the first..

but i have to say, that saying this is the worst thing ever and calling it an atrocity is pure retardation..
it is obviously a fairly polished, solid and generally "okay" game at the least..

to ignore that the game is a fairly professionally made from an objective standpoint is just dumb.. there's no way anyone can reasonably argue that this is "OBJECTIVELY" worse than most of the Wii-shovelware or a game like Turning Point: Fall of Liberty..
sure people may not like the game.. but calling it an insult, atrocity or the worst game in memory etc. is just idiotic..

i mean.. i didn't like the Godfather... AT ALL... but i can't argue that is it not a well-made film.. same with so many other films.. games.. music... etc etc etc

(oh and judging from your smiley, i'm sure you were kidding - but i know many people aren't so.. sry i had to rant as a reply to your post alone)

The nail... YOU JUST HIT IT ON THE HEAD!
1) Fallout: New Vegas
2) Battlefield 3
3) Frozen Synapse
4) Limbo
5) Jamestown
6) Magicka
7) Terraria
8) XIII
9) Vampires: The Masquerade - Bloodlines
10) Orcs Must Die!

The best games I played this year from the current decade.

Yeah... it was a joke.

But you are right. I really loved the first game and it was a huge disappointment for me - I suppose it's a better game on its own, but not as a sequel.
Civ V
Heroes Of Might and Magic Chronicles. Homm 3 is still the IMO the best game ever.
Being fed up with the current state of PC gaming and the ever increasingly draconian DRM schemes to punish honest gamers, and being inspired by The CRPG Addict, I've gone totally retro this year:

1. Chaos Strikes Back

2. Might&Magic 2

3. Dungeon Master

4. Might&Magic 1

5. Ultima V

6. Demon's Winter

7. Starflight

8. Magic Candle

9. Dragon Wars
Fairly odd mix of the new and old for me :) No particular order though, since I have a lot of games and don't generally finish most/any of them.

1. Witcher 2 - Still haven't played the original though :( Need to find the time to do that if I can.

2. Total War: Shogun 2 - Always loved Total War titles!

3. Might and Magic VI - I suck at this game, and yet I can't stop playing it from time to time.

4. Dungeons of Dredmor - A lot of anticipation for me on this game because it was a roguelike. Turned out pretty good, though not very difficult.

5. Panzer Corps - Reminds me of Panzer General 2 a lot, which is always a good thing :)

6. Fallout New Vegas - Spent 50ish hours on Fallout 3 last year...getting close with New Vegas this year :D

7. All Heroes of Might and Magic Games - I like all of these, but if I had to pick I'd go with VI simply because I've played the others so much in the past that I've memorized the strategies for them >_>

8. Dwarf Fortress - Elaborate lava trap has yet to be complete!

9. Need for Speed Hot Pursuit (2010) - Best NFS racing game imo. Well, maybe SHIFT is better, but I haven't played that yet.

10. M.A.X. - One of my favorite games when I was much younger. Still great game.

Playing in brief bursts games like Saints Row, Batman Arkham City, Assassin's Creed Series (Catching up on 2 atm), and Skyrim. I wish work wasn't so busy at this time of the year or I'd have more time to play :(
I don't think I've played more than 10 games in 2011. I've recently enjoyed and am currently playing:

1- Starcraft 2
2- Company of heroes
3- Max Payne
4- Borderlands (just started with this one)

I've played throughout 2011 and have finished or left unfinished to continue later:

5-The Witcher
6- Neverwinter Nights 2
7- Divine Divinity
8- Magicka
9- Steel Storm shouldn't be in this list, since it's not that enjoyable and I play it more as a time killer than as a game.

hmm... I guess number 10 should be Civilization IV but one session takes me so long I stopped playing it and just uninstalled it today to make some space for Borderlands.

I'm to lazy to do a whole list, but DA 2 would also be in the top ten.

In no particular order (although Skyrim does deserve #1 for me)

- Skyrim
- Assassin's Creed Revelations
- Starcraft II
- Gothic
- Gothic II
- Under a Killing Moon
- Pandora Directive
- Fallout New Vegas
- Deus Ex
- Deus Ex: Human Revolution

Even the oldies in that list are first-times for me.
