I didn't play a whole lot of 2011 games because of budget and lack of interest in certain titles, but I did play a few and quite a bit of older games I missed in the past. Here are my favorites in no particular order:
1. Saint's Row: The Third - My favorite entry into the Saints Row series and quite possibly the craziest one yet. You can ride a jet that can transform, fight alongside a pimp that speaks with an autotuned voice and a huge Russian guy, utilize a dildo as a deadly melee weapon, do tasks for a gang of hackers that can bring you into a Tron like world, and Burt Freaking Reynolds.
2. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Do I need to explain why I like this game? :P
3. Blood: I have played this before when I used to scour a bunch of abandonware sites but I actually was able to sit down and go through the complete game and I discovered a game that utilizes the style of Duke Nukem 3D to create a game that is superior to Duke in many ways.
4. Intelligent Qube - I played the demo as a child and always wanted to try the full game and finally was able to this year. I got a game that despite it being released in 1997, was fresh and very different compared to games today. I have yet to see a game that is like it.
5. Duke Nukem Forever - I know people hate this game and will give me crap for it but you know what, I loved it. I will admit it has some serious issues, especially in the console version that I played, but overall it is still a good Duke title. It is not the best game, but not the worst, even for a Duke game because there are bad Duke titles such as the Saturn port of 3D, the Gameboy Color title, and Land of the Babes.
6. Bulletstorm - This is a fun FPS that has the silly nature of something like Duke Nukem 3D and Serious Sam but is mixed with a modern shooter that has a lot of things in it that makes it stand out. You have an interesting skill point system that makes you kill enemies in different ways to get more points which adds replay value to the campaign.
7. Postal 2 - I have always been curious about this game ever since I heard about the controversy involved with it and was able to locate a copy of the game. What I got was a game so ridiculous that it is just crazy. I can't really describe the ridiculous style of it since it is one of those you have to play it yourself to see what I mean.
8. Portal 2 - This was a great sequel to the original Portal which adds more things to it and has more humor that makes it the best entry in the series in my opinion. Plus the co-op in it is just fantastic.
9. You Don't Know Jack: Classic Volumes and the 2011 one: I played the demo of the Playstation one as a child and never understood it but now that I am older and have a wider sense of humor, I consider You Don't Know Jack one of my favorite casual trivia games ever. This is the best trivia game series hands down because the questions you are asked are absurd, this is the trivia game that is labeled as when high culture and pop culture collide which leads to a lot of questions that will seriously challenge your knowledge of academics and entertainment. The game is also very funny with a host that will insult you or make fun of you when you get a question wrong and also give some funny remarks about the subject matter of the question.
10. Descent - Oddly enough I like PC games but never actually played this game until recently and I am quickly hitting myself for not doing so earlier. This game is fun and challenging with the complete 360 degree dynamic adding some pretty fun gameplay.
