ddickinson: Out of curiosity, do you know of any Italian developed games here on GOG?
avatar
Enebias: Unfortunately not... I might be mistaken (that's likely, actually), but I think there are no Italian games here. It seems Ubisoft employs several Italian workers, but that couldn't qualify the game as Italian, since they are part of international teams.
In my country the interest in videogames is still minimal, and the only relevant developer house is "KUNOS Simulazioni" (no offence meant for all the others, of course).
There are a few developing houses for what concerns the mobile field, but I admit that, as I don't even own one of those devices, I know nothing about them.
I could cite the name of several other developers, but I think they are more fit for this thread! :)
I don't know much about Italian game development but I do know of at least two Italian localization companies: Leader and CTO. We have a few games localized by those two companies on the site. What's the general opinion amongst Italian gamers about the quality of those two companies' translations? Genuinely curious :)

ddickinson: Yay! My first comment from a Blue :).

A big thank you to those who have contributed an interesting fact about Poland so far, and good luck to those that have entered for the giveaway!

Have a good week everyone!
Thanks :) I try not to post in giveaway threads so as to not muck up any random.org or manual raffles for the GA'ers :)

Punished_Snake: Isn't CTO dead?
By the way, I have a boxed copy of Moneky Island 3 sold by CTO :P
I don't know, never checked :)

ddickinson: Thank you for contributing some of your wonderful paintings, and the interesting fact about the Winged Hussars. They look a little impractical with the wings, but as you said, they were a force to be reckoned with on the open fields of battle.

awalterj: No one knows for sure what those wings were for, most popular theories are:

-Increased silhouette = looks more intimidating
-The feathers make a terrifying noise, scaring the enemy
-Supernatural empowerment from the spirits of the birds the feathers belonged to which were all birds of prey: Eagles, hawks, vultures
-The wings made it harder for Tatars to throw their lassos over a Polish hussar and pull him off the horse (would only have been relevant during the period when the Polish were fighting against the Tatars but maybe the wings were later kept for some of the other reasons mentioned)
Or maybe, just maybe, the Hussars were following the Rule of Cool :D
