[url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Staycation" target="blank]‘Staycations’ are all the rage as the economy continues slowly staggering back towards recovery. But even if you're not looking to save cash on your summer vacation, there are still reasons why you should keep indoors, on your PC, and enjoy some classics. Vacations can be expensive (and dangerous!) so why put yourself through all the hassle when you can have a similar experience for much less with GOG.com?

All of Interplay’s games are 50% off from now until the 4th of July, and we’ll be writing up more “Staycation Packages” for your reading pleasure as the days trip by.

As someone who lived 20 year in the Amazonian Rainforest region I can safely say: you're better off taking GOG's advice and stay at home playing Fallout.

Luckily in the Amazonian Rainforest region nobody needs water-chip :)

Serious. Most places in urban regions barely have dial-up connection, It's hot and wet as hell the whole year and if really want to go the the forest it's just trees, birds, and rivers, big deal. :P
Crap, all the games I want are $38.87!

At least I have two weeks to get the money...

So you are not into the whole "save the rain forrest" thing then (?).....

I just realized, Septerra Core isn't a part of this promo!

I bought the game ages ago and I could've sworn it was released by Interplay in the US of A...

I was going to be all cool* and be all `Interplay promo? Pfft, back in the days we had those all the time. Nothing in there for us oldies anymore'.
Now I have 7 tabs open, trying to decide which of the 7 games I still wanted I should get (I already have 16 of the games on sale :D )

Anyway, at least we never have to see that dead horse picture again.

*not really cool

DrIstvaan: Hopefully, Roman5 and Lexor are/will be around here now/soon :-).
I'm all over it ;)

Looks like all of those months of Nagging and Annoying GOG have payed off, finally

Oh, I am. I say leave the forest to the animal life who still can't appreciate good old games, air conditioner, and broadband internet connection. Because we all know someday the apes will take over the world and we really need to seize these days before that happens.
Probably Wednesday or Thursday I will be getting a bunch more games.

aplsin: I'm probably gonna get Freespace 1+2, Descent 3 (games I've played/liked in the past but have now lost) and MDK 2 (heard lot about it but never picked it up). Not that familiar with the rest, any tips besides the obvious Fallouts?
avatar
DrIstvaan: You should also get MDK 1 if you get 2; the first one is, at least in my opinion, more streamlined (provided you don't have it already). (What they tried with MDK2 /different game style for every character/ is good, but lacks the simple elegance of MDK. It's still a good game, but I'd advise playing MDK first.)
Also, if you're keen on TBSs, Conquest of the New World is a largely overlooked gem.
Apart from MDK being a game worth playing, is it necessary to play through it first in order to fully enjoy MDK2? I tried both demos and for me MDK2 looked much easier to get into: sweeter graphics, smoother controls, better sound and more comprehensible tutorial. Is there something to be said against starting with the second and, if I like it enough, play the first afterwards?
Alright, that's it! There are now so many games in my account that there needs to be a better way to organize them. I need more than just alphabetical and manual ordering. I need to be able to assign my games to different categories so that I'll know which games I've completed, and which games I haven't, which games were only worth trying one time, and which are favorites that I want to go back to. Thank you very much.
