A whole new ball game!

The Ball, a first person perspective puzzle/exploration game that combines Unreal with Arkanoid, is now available on GOG.com 10% off for limited time. The incredibly low price of $8.99 will last until Tuesday, August 14 at 09:00 AM GMT.

What is the Ball? The mysterious artifact uncovered in ancient ruins holds many secrets. Is it a repository of knowledge? A round treasure chest filled with gold and diamonds? A vessel of some mystical power? Whatever it is, it rolls like a dream. And when it gathers momentum, nothing can stand in its way. So, whether it is the hard drive of the gods or the ultimate doomsday device, you’re going to use it as your bowling ball and hurl it against the monstrous denizens that stand between you and your escape from the underworld.

The Ball sports beautiful Unreal™ Engine 3 graphics and delivers both physics-based puzzles and gory, monster-crushing action. You will explore eight huge levels of an ancient underground city and fend off furious foes in four survival arenas. But first, you’ll need to master the Ball itself and learn how to control its movement.

The Ball, with all of its power and its many secrets, can be yours for only $8.99 for the next 7 days.

Merchito: Something tells me there is not a single soul at GOG's offices those days.
Probably had this release automatically programmed or something.

It's not that they don't care anymore about their customers.
They're just all of them making a suntan somewhere far from any computer !
Or it could be we're very, very busy getting awesome things ready for you.

Either thing is possible, I guess.

gameon: no job is easy

F4LL0UT: I object that. My buddy just got a marketing job at a game company (which is currently pretty darn successful) and the toughest part is shaking hands, smiling and drinking. Oh yeah, he complains about someone else screwing up occasionally and thus forcing him to write a short email or making a short call but that's before he can return to doing what he's doing most of the time: sitting at his huge desk, looking out the window and hugging his boss (literally). That IS an easy job. Not to mention that oversleeping a couple of hours is no issue most of the time.
Speaking as the guy who does marketing for this company, your friend is either exaggerating his lack of work, or he's terrible at his job.

bazilisek: I promised myself I wouldn't bitch about this any more, but this really feels like a loss of a release day.

SimonG: That is the whole issue. If GOG would just lose the release days, people would maybe bitch less. But every release like this seems like a loss, not an addition to the catalogue.
I should note: we have set release days because that's just about as often as we can release games. Also: seeing what a cock-up we can make of releasing a game when it's not on the usual release schedule, well, it's probably for the best that we have a schedule and stick to it.

Don't think we have vast libraries of games waiting and ready to be released. We don't.

Heck, anyone who listened to the TruePCGaming interview of me last week would have heard me talking about a game that we were supposed to release last week and which, due to some last-minute juggling, we had to postpone to the end of the month.

We know that you guys want to see more top-tier classics on GOG, and we know what kinds of indie games you want to see on GOG. We continue to do our best to provide you all with the fantastic games that you've come to expect here, and we hope you'll continue to stick around to see what exciting developments we have in store.

tfishell: I tend to feel better when a blue comments. Can't you hire at least one employee dedicated to just roaming the forums making us all feel better?

(I just mistyped roaming as "roman". I hope that's not providence...)
Both JudasIscariot and G-Doc are tasked with roaming the forums when nothing more pressing is on their plate. You may also start to see some of the support guys around these here parts, too.
