Space Colony HD, the high-definition version of the futuristic cross between real-time strategy and real-space-life simulation, is available now on GOG.com, for only $7.99! That's 20% off the regular price for one week.

Space Colony HD lets you build and manage a high-tech habitat to colonize an alien world. The range of facilities you can construct is impressive and the number of factors you need to keep track of will make this game a real challenge. But what's most interesting is that every single one of the colonist that inhabit your base has an elaborate personality. Some tend to cause trouble while other's are the grease that keep the gears of your colony go smoothly.

Check out for yourself what the makers of Stronghold Crusader HD cooked up for you up there, in the new frontier. Now you can experience it all in high definition! The nice guys from FireFly Studios have even prepared a short video explaining what's special about the game.

Join the colonists and contribute to what might be the beginning of the galactic human supremacy in Space Colony HD, for only $7.99 until Thursday, November 15, at 10:59AM GMT.
I get the feeling that a lot of people haven't played this so I'll share a few of my experiences.

I picked it up when I was about 9/10 years old, think it was a fiver. as a kid I'd only spend a fiver on games as this is what my pocket money was, although it did lead to me picking up classics like freelancer, stronghold, Pharaoh etc.

Anyway, this game is great. It isn't really sims, it's more a city builder if anything. You build objects and then your characters will use them automatically. Theres a variety of really hard missions to really easy missions or some sandbox type gameplay.

I would REALLY recommend this, for one there is literally nothing like this out there, and two you'll probably actually get a lot of play out of it. There is a lot of missions and it does go quite deep in terms of buildup. Think Zeus with having to get better and better resources to build better houses and you get a jist of this.

Anyway, it's one of my favourites from when I was a kid so I'm definitely clicking the purchase button right now.

thebes: Is this kinda like Cyberstorm? I have played neither. Just sounds like a discreption my brother gave me.
Not at all. I would describe Cyberstorm as a turn-based strategy in which you control customisable mechs (and was very fun). This is a real-time, base building sim. There is some combat but not at all similar to Cyberstorm. It is quite like Stronghold, if you played that.

TurnipSlayerr: His best album.
Great Album. No doubt. No doubt.
I am especially partial to Everybody Knows This is Nowhere.

tfishell: Nice. I'd consider this an oldie at least, 2003 is almost 10 years ago. I must admit, however, that doing some research and seeing the original box art made me go "bleh".

Oh damn, just realised this was a game I thought about getting years ago (non HD). Only realised when I saw your post of the old cover art. If I'd been less busy this week I might have read the forum sooner. Oh well guess I'll wait till there is a special then, as my life doesn't depend on buying it now.
This is looking beautiful in HD in the screenshots,

eager to play it, to know if the gameplay holds up to the beautiful scenery displayed here. Wishlisted.
