Home is where the iridium power plant is.

Space Colony HD, the high-definition version of the futuristic cross between real-time strategy and real-space-life simulation, is available now on GOG.com, for only $7.99! That's 20% off the regular price for one week.

Space Colony HD lets you build and manage a high-tech habitat to colonize an alien world. The range of facilities you can construct is impressive and the number of factors you need to keep track of will make this game a real challenge. But what's most interesting is that every single one of the colonist that inhabit your base has an elaborate personality. Some tend to cause trouble while other's are the grease that keep the gears of your colony go smoothly.

Check out for yourself what the makers of Stronghold Crusader HD cooked up for you up there, in the new frontier. Now you can experience it all in high definition! The nice guys from FireFly Studios have even prepared a short video explaining what's special about the game.

Join the colonists and contribute to what might be the beginning of the galactic human supremacy in Space Colony HD, for only $7.99 until Thursday, November 15, at 10:59AM GMT.

Namur: GOG, can you guys please stick to a standart in terms of packaging the extras ?

Unzipping the soundtrack yields a folder named "space_colony_HD_soundtrack" - good packaging.

Unzipping the avatars, for instance, yields a folder named "avatars" - bad, bad packaging.
With hundreds of avatars, artworks, etc. folders, generic names simply don't cut it.

Please stick to the standart - when selecting 'extract here' the result will be a folder named: "name_of_the_game_"extra in question"

Having to rename a bunch of folders upon extraction is no big deal or anything but still...
I agree. Stay consistent in naming.

tfishell: Nice. I'd consider this an oldie at least, 2003 is almost 10 years ago. I must admit, however, that doing some research and seeing the original box art made me go "bleh".

Roman5: Looks like some sort of shovelware title at first glance
That box art is heavily 'inspired' by the Sims box art and the mention of the Sims in a quote on the front doesn't inspire the customer that it's not a rip off. The screenshots actually look interesting so it's a shame they couldn't have tried to sell the game back then on its own merits.

I'm willing to give any game a fair chance though, so maybe I'll pick it up on sale if there are more reviews.
I've never played with this, but it's certainly a very interesting looking game, so I'll be sure to buy it very soon.
Is this kinda like Cyberstorm? I have played neither. Just sounds like a discreption my brother gave me.

It also makes it look like it's a space themed ripoff of the Sims...

EDIT: Ah, I was ninja'd hours ago...

Roman5: Can a GOG Staff member please confirm: Are there going to be any other releases this week?

TurnipSlayerr: That's it for this week.
LOL. Bruce Berry was a working man, he used to drive that Econoline Van...

This looks like a fun game. i'm mostly a TBS player and don't but rarely play RTS and sims. But there is synergy between them all. It might be that Space Colony HD ia game to bring them together for me. Will watch some LPs and YouTube and see how it plays.
Alright breaking out the pay card now. Watched some 40 minutes of a 9 part play through on Youtube. Hehe the commentator is good. Rough and funny. On the fly. Some good stuff in there with lots a lol moments.

Leading a motley group of tightly confined workers, living and working in within the same spaces 24/7, ought make for some funny shit. i dig how the games adds the frail human elements. Will be interesting managing those crews !

Interesting, I only knew Firefly for the Stronghold games.

Can't say I'm surprised because this is the only game they ever made outside that franchise.

Edit: Never mind. I just read that they made CivCity: Rome. I keep thinking it's a Firaxis title for some reason. Too bad that Dungeon Hero of theirs never saw the light of day.

Hmm, I want to play, but the stupid downloader is corrupting files again.

Sigh, I guess I'll have to wait to download it yet again. Is it really that much to ask for a proper resumably URL, even if hidden behind a password, would at least allow for FDM to resume the downloads.

I always saw the box-art as ironic, rather than an intended rip-off. Though it does look a lot better in holographic form, rather than the plain version in that picture.
Speaking of HD revisions, I would like to see Majesty HD on GOG. I have it on Steam, but would like a DRM free version......
