Finely ground aliens to take-out.

Shadowgrounds Survivor, a dynamic top-down shooter with swarms of alien horrors to spray with bullets, suggestive visuals, spiffy weapon upgrade system, and four player co-op mode, is now available on GOG.com for only $5.99. With that, its predecessor: Shadowgrounds, receives a Mac version and a permanent price drop to $5.99 as well.

In this indirect continuation of Frozenbyte's exciting alien shooter you'll follow a parallel story of the human commando facing the invasion on the Ganymede colony. The horror creeping in the dark corners of the Universe finally caught up with Terran colonists and the massacre that followed was only survived by a handful of the best trained, bravest, and quickest soldiers. Now it is up to them to put a stop to the extraterrestrial menace that threatens our existence.

Shadowgrounds Survivor delivers non-stop alien-shooting action over the course of 20 diverse missions, and it does so in perfect form. The old-school gameplay concept is paired with very modern visuals. You'll feel the heat of the combat and alien blood splatters as your guns rattle and spit a rain of bullets on your monstrous foes. Are you crazy enough to face the endless waves of beast in the timed survival mode? You can even share the fun with up to three more friends, in the fun and challenging co-op mode. Fun times! Dark and dangerous, but fun.

Humanity needs you again, so grab your upgradeable guns, and seriously kick some alien behind in Shadowgrounds Survivor, for only $5.99.
Already own and there is not enough in the extras... I might pick it up on sale, but meh.

GOG, could I ask you to release KillSwitch. It is very under-rated and impossible to get now. For that you could have some money.
Late but good release ;)
This is disappointing, I'm not saying this because it's not my type of game, but because it's just 1 game on Tues, a new game to boot...
Great release! Thanks GOG! I was wondering when this would arrive to GOG too, as naturally I wouldn't want to buy it from Steam.

+1 for Trine 2 appearing soon too. And Torchlight 2, Sacred 2, Risen 1-2 etc. etc. etc., while you are at it.

keeveek: Released how many years after the first one? After how many bundles already featured this game?
Funny, I've been actively buying Humble Bundles the last two years, yet I don't have this game yet? Or are you talking about some silly "Royal Indie Gaia Superduper Bundle" which 99% of the gaming world is not even aware of? EDIT: Or was it on some "Steam keys only" Humble Bundle then, without a DRM-free installer?

For what it's worth, I don't have Trine 2 nor Torchlight 2 yet either. Just when people will complain again "surely everyone have these games from elsewhere already?".

Just from the fact GOG is usually selling around 3k units of one game ,I wouldn't deprecieate minor bundles role at all.

Anyway, I was just expressing (I know, again) my disappointemend with GOG release schedule. I have a rather long memory for big words, and I still remember their bragging "we want to be the first major alternative to steam".

With a schedule like that they may be an alternative to I don't know, DotEmu, maybe.

just so you know, Shadowgrounds + Survivor was featured in Humble Frozenbyte Bundle, among many others

So the answer to your question:

"After how many bundles already featured this game?" is "one"?

If gog refused to release any games that hadn't previously been in a bundle of some kind, there would be a lot of indie games that I would miss out on...

linked one to timppu because that was the one he was specifically talking about.

And I'm not talking about refusing anything, learn to read.

I told that it's a shame that a game that was featured in bundles is the only release today, and that we had to wait over 3 years since GOG released Shadowgrounds to see it's sequel finally here even though it was avaible DRM Free everywhere else.

What else you don't understand?

I like top-down shooters, but I never liked Shadowgrounds, not sure why. I just have a feeling that it was eternally spawning enemies. I might try it again at some point, but last time I quit at level 4 or 5, getting very bored by it.

I much prefer the shooter series.

Too bad then that the bundle is not active anymore, as I missed that time-limited bundle for a reason or another.

And as said, the DRM-free "installers" on Humble Bundles generally suck. I'm sure this doesn't matter to people who are only after the Steam keys.
Oh good, a fight in release thread. XD

HiPhish: I have it from Humble Bundle, never really played it due to how frustrating the save system in the previous game was. You could only save between missions, but the missions would easily take an hour or more and there was no way to "freeze" the game, you have to beat the mission in one go. This is not the type of game I want to play for over an hour at a time. If the missions were shorter (like 15 to 20 mnutes) it would have been much better. (yes, there are checkpoints and lives, so if you die you don't have to start all over, butyou can't save at those checkpoints)
That's one of the major differences between the original Shadowgrounds and Shadowgrounds: Survivor. In survivor, the missions are much shorter (average 15 minutes or so), making the save system a lot less frustrating.

I know. Again, what I said meant I am disappointed this is the only release today. It shows for me, that GOG doesn't really care to release something worthwile during summertime.

Too busy drinking lagers during GDC probably.

And aren't you mad when you have to wait over 3 years for GOG to finally release a sequel to a game that is widely avaible everywhere else?

What took them so long? I am frustrated, because I know the same thing witll happen for many games I am waiting for. Like a sequel for Desert Storm - probably will be released after 2-3 years as a shovelware when there's nothing else to release, like this time.

btw. I was wrong. S: Survivor was featured only in one bundle. Shadowgrounds was the one featured in 3.
