Furry freelance cop buddy flick finally on GOG!

Sam & Max Hit the Road, the very first point-and-click adventure game starring the furry freelance police duo, is available for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux - for the first time in digital distribution - on GOG.com, for only $5.99!

Grab your nightstick, squeal like a siren, and Sam & Max Hit the Road, Freelance Police, as they attempt to crack their toughest case. Sam (a canine shamus) and Max (a hyperkinetic rabbity thing) are hot on the trail of a runaway carnival bigfoot across America’s quirky underbelly in this deranged animated adventure! Solving this case is up to you! You direct the actions of Sam & Max, tearing down the road with mayhem on their minds and Corn Duds™ on their breath, on a peril-fraught mission to make the world safe for Sasquatches and sentient mammals everywhere! Based on Steve Purcell's unconventional cult comic books, Sam & Max will take you on an irreverent road trip adventure that will put hair on your back. Collide with tacky tourist traps and intimidate their bizarre denizens.

Help our frightening, furry flatfoots find the fugitive freak in Sam & Max Hit the Road, for only $5.99 on GOG.com!

Trilarion: Happy memories. Although I have to say... I don't like the graphics much anymore. Since it's a Lucasarts it must be my fault.
But....but...it's Sam & Max. I mean my sister, who doesn't play games all that much, enjoyed and played this one without any coercion on my part. This game is so good non-gamers enjoy it...

Also, I am totally biased for the pixels. They are timeless, in my opinion :P
"needless violence is MY speciality!"

this game...

No soundtrack included? I remember when I got this on CD-ROM you could pop the disk in a CD player and tracks 2+ contained:

Sam And Max Theme
Doug The Mole Man's Theme
Conroy Bumpus's Song
Bigfoot Party

stg83: I think it still holds up quite well in motion actually. :)

Wow that actually looks much better than what the indie community thinks is "old school"
The Sam and Max Graphics are timeless. It takes place in a cartoon universe,so the cartoon like graphics are perfect.

BTW, I assume the GOG version will work with SCUMMVR,a program designed to run the Lucasarts adventure games.

danielgd: No spanish version?? Is it coming soon?

I have an oriignal CDROM with it, it was a rerelease compatible with 32 bit Windows.
Would it be helpful if I send you needed files? Or is it a publisher rights issue?
Still no word from GOG on this matter... And It's a strange thing knowing that the publisher was just the same than Fate Of Atlantis, and that one comes with the Spanish install.

If they think on adding the rest of Lucas adventures... I hope they remember that all of them (except Zak) were published translated in Spanish, and even a few of them where full dubbed (Curse of Monkey Island, Escape from Monkey Island, The Dig and Grim Fandango).

Anyway.. I'll hold on buying Sam&Max until they add it... I still have my CDROM version too (in fact, 2 of them, a big boxed and the classics white little box), and here they sell a ScummVM version so It's not like I need it. But I like to show my support of Good Old Adventures ;) but only if they come the way I played them...

I literally got this game on the original CD a month ago, so I'm laughing at this.

In any case, I'm SO happy that the LucasArts adventure games are coming to GOG. :D The only one I own so far is Sam & Max, and I'm loving every second of it. :)

The Spanish version is now available complete with the manual in Spanish :)

Thanks danielgd :)
I could also send you the uncompressed MONSTER.SOU from the German version, since with the current OGG compressed file the game can't be run outside of ScummVM and still have voices. Can't you just add an option to the installer to install either the compressed or uncompressed file?

They sure are timeless. Love the graphics even today. So many memories. Now if you brought DOTT next week, I'll be going nostalgia overload.

Thank you very much!!... I'll add Sam&Max to my library then :)
Out of curiosity, does Hit the Road also have the MONSTER.SOU (AKA the voice acting/SFX) compressed? I ask this because Fate of Atlantis had this audio compressed to OGG (only for the GOG release)...hopefully this isn't a trend with all Lucas Arts releases.

As reference, the MONSTER.SOU is 174mgs. If the GOG release has it as something smaller then that, it means it has been compressed.

The file is uncompressed for Sam & Max thankfully (174MB as you say). Though it does not come with the original executable and other files that were included with Indy 4.
