The original god-game, reprised.

Reprisal Universe, a low-res high-beauty real-time god-game making a loving tribute to the roots of the genre, is available for Windows and Mac OS X, 30% off on GOG.com. That's only $6.99 for the first week.

Reprisal Universe takes the form of a RTS following the plight of Thallos, a forgotten demi-god, as he travels to distant shores reprising his people and gathering the ten lost Amulets of his tribes. Help Thallos by controlling nature itself, raising and lowering land, unleashing lighting storms, tidal waves, volcanoes and more. Visually set in it’s defining tilt-shift style, you begin on Thallos home planet of Euporie, you will be able to explore over 32 planets of uncharted lands, extending your influence and working together with other explorers by revealing your discoveries and progress in Reprisal Universe. Although initially procedurally generated, the Universe changes and evolves with collective player left legacies - you too will be able to leave behind your mark for other players to encounter.

If you have fond memories of god-games as they were 20 years ago, but would like to play something that feels a bit more modern, don't miss Reprisal Universe, for only $6.99 on GOG.com. The 30% off special launch discount will last until Monday, September 22, at 9:59AM GMT. Don't miss out!

IAmSinistar: I also hope they fixed that one vulnerability the enemy AI had in the original, which made shortcutting to victory pretty easy.
Well those can be handy, like in World Cup Soccer on the NES where the AI goalie couldn't deal with diagonal shots or Jedi Knight where you could confuse Jerec's AI by jumping over his head.
I played the original Reprisal (which I got in a bundle) some time ago, and found it to be an excellent populous clone. A bit on the easy side, but very fun to play. I'll probably try to pick this one up soon.

Smannesman: snip
Yes, a programming quirk to exploit can be handy in the right circumstance. But when the weakness of the enemy AI is such that you can triumph with the same technique every time, it sort of destroys motivation to continue. You want to be challenged, ultimately.

Fortunately I didn't work it out until late in the game, so it didn't spoil most of the play. And I did try to refrain from using the approach, but still, when you know you have the game equivalent of a nuclear response at hand, it takes some of the drama away.
I try to ignore screen shots but for some reason the ones here make this VERY tempting.

Too bad I'm slightly broke.

Let me think about this one.
I wonder if they could provide GOG keys instead of Steam keys on Desura. Just asked them about it and I'm waiting for an answer now. :)
Nice, feels like my kind f games, shame I just brought even more things in my backlog during the anniversary.
Reprisal...oh, they promised to make Linux version long ago, but...
Interesting, but how is Reprisal Universe different from Reprisal?
Well that was unexpected.
I think I remember playing an early browser version quite some time ago. Was already lots of fun back then.
Definitely going to buy this one, I'd love to see how they improved and expanded it since then.

Seems to have. The old download site redirects to the new release as well.
No GOG keys apparently. :(

"With regards to GOG keys, im afraid not as this is a new distributor. I promised Steam a year ago so have stuck to the promise ... will get them linked as soon as possible!!" taken from the comment section on desura

Indeed! I wish I could swap that key with the GOG version somehow.
Man, this looks so much like a completely shameless ripoff of Populous, it's not even funny. If it was a fanmade freeware game, excellent, kudos for that, but it looks like a 1:1 remake with a slightly different visual aesthetic. I sure hope they credit Peter Molyneux for the game design.
